I have a dimension 5000 desktop, when I turn on I get a short burst on screen saying DELL, but then a blank screen. I hear a continuos beeping tone and all lightss on front of unit are dispalyed. Please...

Well if its a dell monitor also, it will say dell, and does not mean the computer is communicating with it, your manual is here (copy and paste) what EXACTLY is the beeping code doing, the term continuous beeping tone could mean different things. You should have 4 small led lights on the rear that say A, B, C, and D that are diagnostic lights, what color are those?

Where to find the reset button on my packard bell pc hard drive

Click on the "Start" button and input "Recovery" into the search box. Click on "Recovery Manager."

Click on the "Advanced Options" button when the Windows recovery manager appears. Choose the "System Recovery" option from the list and click on "Next."

Click "No" to decline using the Microsoft system restore and click "Next." Note that HP computers have their own restore system.

Click on "Back up your files first (recommended)." Click on "Next." Follow the instructions given to you by the recovery manager for backing up your files.

This is your opportunity to back up any important or original files before you reset the HP computer to its original settings.

Save these files to removable storage devices such as DVD disks, CD disks, alternative hard drives (that you are not performing a system reset on) or flash drives.

Click on "Next" when the screen reads "Recover without backing up your files." Note that after you proceed with this step, you will lose any and all information on your Hard Drive that you did not back up.

Restart your computer after it has finished the recovery procedure. Visit the HP Support and drivers website and click on the option that says "Download drivers and software (and firmware)." Enter your computer model number (find this on the front of your tower) and press "Enter."

Download the most recent drivers and save them on your desktop. Double-click the driver package and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

Insert your removable storage device that contains the files that you backed up. Copy the files to the appropriate places on your hard drive.

hope this helps

I want to download pictures from a disk to my computer. Please help

If you have the pictures on a disc, USB drive, floppy disk, or any other source, you can follow these steps to save them on your computer:
Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. You should now see a list of drives. Some of them will be your Hard Drives (Like the "C" Drive), and below them you should have all your "Devices with Removal Storage" drives.
Under Devices with Removable Storage, search for your CD drive. It should have an icon of a disc, and possibly a meaningful name saying what's on the disc itself (Depending on how it was burned). Double-click that icon, and you should be able to see the list of files and directories on that disc.
Navigate through the directories until you find the picture you want to copy.
Using your mouse, right-click the file (or directory) you would like to copy. A context menu should open up next to the file.
Left-click the word "Copy".
Close the My Computer window, and return to the desktop.
Double-click the "My Documents" icon on your desktop.
At the top-left corner of the screen, search for a menu called "Edit". Click it, and select "Paste".
That's it, your files should now be copied to your computer.

Till now i can not get tiscali working in my computer. is still dificult to set broadband. since got tiscali broadband i have never used it, but iam still paying. I tried to contact you over the phone but...

You're not really acting sensible, and you have not described what is difficult about uh...setting broadband. Setting it up, I suppose. I mean, if you set it up and then some thugs come by and rip up the cords, that would really set your case apart. Which is weird for country 79...Belize or Brazil? Have a friend whose Tiscali service works show you what her configuration is so you can copy what isn't privately hers, and indicate what works for her, and help call the company and find out what's going on, rather than wait.

I cant seem to print, it says theres a communication error, iv done everything. i have the lexmark x3580 printer

Hi rima1st,

Printers can definitely be frustrating if they aren't working right, but often times it is one of several common problems that can make them work again. Here are some tips to help you troubleshoot your printer error, since we cannot physically test your connectivity to your printer at the moment.

1: Open your Printers & Faxes panel from your control panel. First, ensure that the correct printer is installed here, and that it is currently set to be the default printer.

2: Right-click on the default printer, select Open, and ensure that there are no print jobs currently queued to print. If there are several of them, delete them all to make sure a broken or stuck print job is not holding up the rest of your printing.

3: Double-check all connections to your PC from the printer, and make sure your printer does not display any errors that are related to it's functionality, rather than the computers.

4: Last but not least, you can uninstall and re-install your printer's drivers and set it up in your Printers & Faxes. This completely removes all of your computer's working knowledge of that printer and re-educates it on how to communicate properly to your printer.

Other than that, the problem could be related to a third-party program blocking your printer (spyware or virus) or it may be that your printer or USB cable are defective. Again, many possibilities and it's extremely difficult to troubleshoot with very limited information. Perhaps you could post a more detailed description of any error messages that your computer mentions, or what steps you have taken? Hope that helps.

Transfering data from an old computer to a new one

that depends on how much is the size of files to be copied. in fact you dont need a CD to do it if you have an external hdisk enclosure that you can put the hdisk of the old PC. just place it in the enclosure with the proper cabling and then attach to the pc where you wanted to copy the files.
