Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Samsung 1080P 7 DVD player and Samsung LN-T4071F television. I have them connected via an HDMI cable. Nearly all, if not all DVD movies I play get to a certain point and the picture starts "breaking up," stops, skips, to the extent that i cannot finish watching the movie. I have cleaned the DVDs, cleaned the player, sent DVDs back for replacements, but still have the same problem. Is this a problem with the player?

If you have changed the DVDs and the problem is still there, then the problem can only be the DVD player.
The symptoms you describe cannot be caused by the TV or the connection.

Sounds like a fault with the connection to its T'Con board to display panel. Check for any loose contact at the both ends of connection sockets to LVDS cable. (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) {that involves transferring a signal on a wire and its opposite over a second wire to allow the receiver to reconstruct the signal by difference}. Re-seat all the cables that comes to and goes from the T'Con board once, and check. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. Surf the site in "MOSAIC" view. It will make surf easy. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

1. Make sure you have connected the cable to the correct input on the set.

2. Access the User Menu and do a "Scan for DIGITAL" channels.

That should do it...

This happens on our samsung too with some dvd's.
It is not the tv's fault (in my case) but have to turn the volume button on the dvd remote up full first then adjust from the tv remote as required.

You may want to try a good, Monster Cable, HDMI cable. Visit this page: http://www.monstercable.com/HDMI/advancedhdmi.asp
If you have a standard HDMI cable, it will not support 1080P.

So this is one of the few times that I will recommend spending the money for a better cable.
The better cable improves picture color quality, from 8 bit to 12 bit and it improves audio quality.

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.
