Question about Samsung DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

I have a Samsung 1080P 7 DVD player and Samsung LN-T4071F television. I have them connected via an HDMI cable. Nearly all, if not all DVD movies I play get to a certain point and the picture starts "breaking up," stops, skips, to the extent that i cannot finish watching the movie. I have cleaned the DVDs, cleaned the player, sent DVDs back for replacements, but still have the same problem. Is this a problem with the player?

If you have changed the DVDs and the problem is still there, then the problem can only be the DVD player.
The symptoms you describe cannot be caused by the TV or the connection.

FUNAI WD5B-N8480ZB CONNECTED TO SAMSUNG TELEVISION VIA HDMI. WHEN PLAYING DVD NEED TO TURN SOUND ON TV NEARLY TO MAXIMUM TO GET REASONABLE SOUND

if you haven't alread, try connecting your tv with the standard RCA connectors, (for the audio) you may have to also connect the yellow video cable depeding on your system. If the audio is low level with these connectors, the problem may be the TV itslef. Aother option is to plug something else into the tv audio inputs (again you may need to have something plugged into the yellow video input. good luck

Won't play 1080p discs?

From this problem's description I have to assume that either the blu ray player will not play blu rays or the blu ray player will play blu rays but only in 1080i/720p or that you want to know if this blu ray player supports the 1080p resolution.

If the blu ray player is not playing blu rays then you update the firmware and try multiple purchased discs to make sure nothing is wrong with the ones you have been trying. If blu rays that played once will no longer play, then you will need to reset the blu ray player from its menu and possibly by holding down the power button on the front of the unit until the word reset displays on the unit before trying to play the disc again.

If the television is not showing 1080p make sure you are connected with an hdmi cable and that it is the right version hdmi cable for this blu ray player and for your television. Make sure you have chosen 1080p as the resolution to display in the blu ray player's menu. If all of that has been done and 1080p will still not display then it is a case of incompatibility between manufacturers--Sharp and whatever the television is. It would display in 1080p on a Sharp television and most likely on a Samsung and Sony as well. With other brands and even some models of the aforementioned brands (except for Sharp) its a toss up.

I have a LG home theatre system model HT963TA(HT963TA,SH93TA-S/CW) THE DVD PLAYER "BLACKS OUT " FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIMES INTERMITANTLY.I TRIED CHANGING THE HDMI CONNECTION AND ALSO CHECKED THE DVD'S ON...

I have this problem too.If you set the DVD player resolution to 480p instead of 1080p it will not have the blackouts anymore. Of course this defeats the whole purpose of buying an "upscaling" DVD player. Just curious: what TV's are-you using?

Flickering picture when setting resolution to 1080P vs 1080I

Hello,

This simply means that your TV isn't capable of handling a 1080 progressive input. This is why it is flickering. Change it back to 1080i(interlaced) and the only time you should ever see flicker is in a still menu. But even then it should be barely noticeable.

If your TV does support 1080progressive then you may want to change the scan frequency of the Yamaha receiver. Common ones are 24 frames/sec or 50/60 Hz. The amplifier should have an auto setting which will detect what the TV can display. The nice thing about HDMI is all that information is transmitted through the cable.

A version 2 or highspeed cable won't change the display at all.

Compatibility with Samsung LCD Display

It sounds like the HDMI port on the back of your Marantz is damaged. if you know for sure that the HDMI port works on another tv still you might just use component connection because the visible difference between component and HDMI is not very recognizable.

BLue ray DVD player

I am not sure about the Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player: But the Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Disc Player requires HDMI cable
to give the best resolution (1080p) possible that the TV set is able
to support. Hope this helps.
