Question about Harman Kardon SoundSticks II Computer Speakers

Sound output only <10%

I've had my soundsticks II for about a year, took them out of the closet after 3 months of storage, and they sound output only seems to be about 10%. I tried several different audio sources (TV, laptop, ipod) and nothing gets them loud enough. The volume sensors seem to be working (volume up, down, and mute) but nothing else works to get them any louder... Suggestions?

I've had the same problem. Soundsticks worked great until I moved. Now there is zero sound output. I've tried several input sources, with no luck. The subwoofer is getting power. The satellite speakers work.

Hi there

Toward the base of one of the satellite speakers are two chrome finished plates...these are touch volume plus and minus pads! It seems that these units default to low level if not used for some time. Just try touching the + pad!

Just found this thread as same problem
Happily, also found a thread on different forum with solution that works for me: look for + and - buttons on one of the satellite speakers. Woah! - now get volume all the way up to 11!

I have this identical problem.  Only I unplugged and re-plugged only to now have NO sound output.  Since I had a tiny bit of sound before, I don't think this is a setup problem. Somebody somewhwere . . . what is up?  Can someone please answer or provide the Harmon Kardon contact?  I'm no longer under warranty.  Everything was peachy until I packed them and moved.  Soundsticks seem to be a bit too sensitive for my liking.

It seems that the power supply section of your speaker systen has the fault. Check the fuse inside it. If it found blown out, never replace an other fuse in place. Check the power supply circuit board for any short circuited components in it, before replacing an other fuse.

I've lost all sound completely. The speakers worked fine for like a month and then started to loose volume and now there's no sound at all.

It is possibly that either you raised the output volume too high and blew out the speakers. Or it is also possibly that there is an issue with the input cord. If it is connected to a computer wiggle the connector around to check for faulty wiring. Do this will some sound is playing. If the connector is the issue you should either hear proper sound or static. If this is the issue you can try and replace the connector end yourself or have a service center do it for you. It is a relatively simple repair for a trained professional.

Low sound coming from soundsticks II

On the right stick, there are two metal pieces at the bottom of the stick. The right one is + for volume up, and the left is - for volume down.

Press the + one a few times with your finger as they are touch activated. Be careful though, as it can get loud very quickly. Play some music and set the computer volume to about half way. Then press the + speaker on the right hand side until you are happy with the volume.

Hope this helps,

Garbled sound

Your Codec is damaged. Reload your drivers for your sound card. First uninstall the old ones. Moving your non working speakers and they play fine says they are good. I have a problem that you have new speakers and the problem went away. Drivers do not care what speakers are on the other end. It only produces output. Now that your second pair is working correctly, put back the Harmons and see if the problem comes back

Speakers not listed in sound output options

I would try un-installing the driver/ application that controls the speakers and re-instaling.

One speaker not working.

Suggest you swap the right speaker into the left output if it works the the amplifer in the control unit is faulty. IF still on sound then the rigth speaker is faulty.
