Vertical red line on notebook screen

I have a red line running vertical in near centre of my screen can it be that the VGA controller is starting bust or drivers is incorrect? Where do I find the drivers for this laptop since Acer don't have on their site?

I'd advocate that the red line indicates that the screen needs to be replaced. As much as I would like to be able to tell you a quickfix that will solve the problem . The reason is that the flexcable that leads the signals into the actual LCD panel came loose, it is not an external connector issue, but rather related to how the internal signal flow of the LCD panel. It is not a solderable connection that on that can otherwise be repaired. I work for a Laptop Repair shop and if a solution popped up for removing this problem without having to replace the screen, we'd be very curious to find out about it.

Unfortunately, a red line of pixels is usually caused by a short in the controller array of the LCD panel itself. Its also possible (but not likely) the cause can be due to a bad video cable or lose connection. It wouldn't hurt to try taking apart your laptop display and checking it out. Aside from that your only alt. is to replace the LCD panel. Sorry for the bad news, hopefully your still under warranty.

Visual problem with laptop screen

Can you connect your laptop into another computer screen? See if that works. If so, then your screen is going bad. I would not recommend replacing the screen unless you are a harware expert. If the lines are still there try booting into VGA mode by pressing F8 at first startup. You might have a failing video card or corrupt drivers.

Coloured vertical lines down lcd screen

To isolate the issue, i strongly recommend to connect the notebook to the external monitor by VGA port which had BLUE colored on the notebook. So that if it is normal then you need to confirm the issue is with the LCD display.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor?
This would ensure that it's the screen and not the video card..
If you do that and you receive a good picture then it could be something as simple as a loose video cable. Or it could also mean something like a bad video card or the expensive one, a bad screen.

Red vertical line going down the screen'

That shows a bad LCD screen that needs to be replaced. Unfortunately it's a hardware problem.

If you laptop is under warranty, you need to take it to a Dell Warranty/Service centre and have the LCD replaced.
