Question about LG 42PX5D 42 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

Plasma TV technical difficulty

42" LG Plasma TV, only 2 1/2 years old, now experiencing vertical color lines on screen. One red one along left side, and one blue one along right side. They are about 1-1 1/2 " thick and run from top of screen to bottom, not blocking images, but are clearly becoming permanent. They started coming and going, and now the past week, have not gone away. Please advise. Is this the beginning of the end, or can this be repaired??

I have exactly the same problem with only one red vertical line on the left hand side and my TV is just over 2 years old as well. LG customer service are not interested and Curry's can only recommend a third party technical call out for £180 (thats just the call out)!! Very frustrating all round. Terri

I have the same problem with a orange/redish color 1 1/2inch vertical line on the right side of the screen which disappeared for a night and reappeared twice. Mine is 27 months old and is 3 months over the warranty. The LG repair man told me the last time he saw this the plasma display was the problem and it would cost about $1300.00 to fix this. Looks like it's going to be a target to sight my gun! What a piece of junk! I bought it for my birthday, what a birthday present to myself..............LG SUCKS!

This is the second time I have had the same vertical red and blue lines. First time the tv was about 1 1/2 years old. Lg replaced it with a referbished one at no cost to me. I have had this one for about 2 years and Its doing the same exact thing. I talked to customer support about it and they said they was nothing that they could do to help me. They didn't even try to refer me to someone who could. Bad business!!!!!!!!!!!! It will come back one them.

This tv is who knows how many years old, but it has 3 vertical lines along the right side of the tv. I am wondering if this is a cheap fix or not worth fixing. I have already bought a new tv so I'm not going to fix it myself, but for resale I was wondering if I can ask for more if it can be fixed. Also what would an appropriate amount be to ask for? Anything helps. Thanks!

If you can still see the picture its most likely the control board that's going bad, you will still need a tech out to fix the issue.
