Question about Computers & Internet

4.7 Hello! I am trying to resolve a cooling issue with my stereo receiver located in my entertainment unit. The space its in is tight, and it doesnt get sufficient air flow to cool the unit. my idea is to mount (2) small CPU fans (see below pic) in the back of the entertainment unit to provide both exhaust (out) & fresh air flow (in), but I need these fans to plug into the 120v strip outlet vs. dealing iwth the stock wiring harness (12v ?). Any ideas on a fan spec that will accomplish this goal ? thanks in advance for your expert advice!! Pete

Kenwood VR 605 power light flashes

CHECK FOR CLEARED COOLING VENTS & FOR PROPERLY WORKING COOLING FANS. THIS WILL CAUSE SHUTDOWN OF THE UNIT. IF ITS ALL CLEAR, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A POWER SUPPLY ISSUE.

Unit shuts off and then comes back on might last for 5 min or 2houres

Hello,
It sounds like your receiver is going into protection mode. This usually and most commonly occurs from excessive heat. If your receiver is enclosed in a tight space with little to no ventilation than that is why you are experiencing this issue. I would suggest you try to get some ventilation and see if that will fix your problem.
Good luck

Reciever keeps shutting off!

If your reciever is in a tight enclosed space, than it will overheat and shut down to protect itself. Try to get some ventilation to it by either opening the cabinet door, adding a fan, or pulling it completely out of the enclosed space.

My receiver shuts down frequently , wakes back after 2 or 3 sec .

do you have sufficient space around the unit? If it is in an enclosed space, has other components on top, etc, you may be overheating the receiver. Once it gets too hot it can potentially cause the issues you mention above.

If you have other components on top, try moving them to another shelf or below the receiver, and if you have a door on an entertainment center, leave the door open to help with air flow.
