Here is the info. that I have:

    Model #WRT54G
    Serial #CDFF1G3R1389

    Operating System is Microsoft XP

How would I know if the network is not connecting, it connects

but says that I have limited access to the internet and will not open any web pages.

  • cgarza May 20, 2008

When I view wireless connections it shows my connection even shows that it is to connect automaticly, it is not secured I have not been able to connect a connection to go through the process of making it a secured network.

When I view the wireless networks it shows the connection with a yellow caution sign showing limited connection.

  • cgarza May 20, 2008

I have done all of the above?

  • cgarza May 20, 2008

Have you tried accessing the router setup page and check the wireless settings just to make sure you are really connected to your own network?

Now this I am not sure how to do?

It's possible that you are not yet connected to the wireless network that you have at home.
May I know the model no. of your wireless router from Linksys?
What is the operating system of your laptop?

You might also want to check if your computer is picking up the signal braodcasted by the linksys router.

It is possible that you are not connected proprerly to the network. if you network is secured you need to make sure that you have typed the network key.

Try this to check if your network is available.

On your wireles computer go to control panle>Network Connections>Then right click your Wireless network connections>Select View Available wireless network. A new window will pop up and it will show you the available networks around you. Check if you will see the name of your network on list and if it will say secure or unsecured. And from there you can reconnect to the wireless network. You can reply to this post in case you still have a problem.

Okay, did you try to disconnect and reconnect just to refreshe the connection? If it will not work. You try this, unplug the power for the router leave it off for a minute and plug it back again. See if you will have a connection.

Have you tried accessing the router setup page and check the wireless settings just to make sure you are really connected to your own network?

Because if you are sure that you have the right settings. then it's possible that it could be a faulty with the router's f/w.

BTW, have you tried to disable the firewalls on your computer?

I have internet through Comcast and I bought a Valet to setup a P2P home network but my throughput is sluggish and my connection lags. How do I fix this?

First you need to find out the speed of your connection. If your connection speed is to slow then that could be the reason. If you have good connection speed then i would suggest getting a faster modem/router. As far as your browser crashing could be the connection speed,or you could have downloaded a virus. I would suggest investing in a good internet security/antivirus program such as Norton. hope this helps

I have comcast cable net and D-link WBR 1310

Hi, forget about the USB connection since you wanted to use a router for your wireless connection. Contact Comcast asnd make sure they assist you in making your computer connect to the Internet using the ethernet connection because you are going to use the ethernet connection for the modem-router connection. Once your computer is online with the ethernet connection, you can connect your Dlink router to the modem and configure it for Internet connection. There will be more steps before you can use the wireless connection. Just make sure you can get online with ethernet connection first.
