Question about Polaroid i531 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Polaroid i531 I purchased a polarioi531 (white) about 1 year ago every since i have had it , it has been nothing but a headache, the lens gets stuck and you have to fix this yourself, i have had to do this several times , on the last try the lens would not retract on the outside but the inside one did , as i was trying to fix this problem the inside lens came off and the outside one is still stuck out, i contacted customer support and they have informed me that since i tryed to fix the problem my self that they would not replace this camera, well if they would give specific instructions as to what to do in this case it probably would not have happened this way. there fore i think polaroid is selling defected merchandise and not caring about the consumer, which is not at all right. I am contacting the better business bureau about this.

Carla I mint the way they treat people also only people who have trained to repair the camera should work on them there are several places like mine that can fix this issue for you if you take apart the camera you might want to watch out for the flash compositor it carries over 240 volts that will let you know that you should not be in their. I repair these all the time and I fully understand why you are so upset at Polaroid but they have designed their camera to be disposable. And my commit about them was not inappropriate that is the truth on 90% of the camera manufactures because they want to charge you a arm and a leg to fix their own product which is not fair to the end user.

Tip

Beeps 3 times; shuts down;lens won't retract

I had a Polaroid i531 that would beep 3 times then shut down & the lens wouldn't retract.

I fixed it like this:
  1. Inspect the lens from all angles and you'll see that the lens assembly is out of sync. (My was looking upward ever so slightly)
  2. Using gentle finger pressure, press in the opposite direction of the abnormal lens direction
  3. I heard a snap, then I powered the camera on.
  4. Camera now works.

Won't Power Up

I have the exact same issue. It needs to be returned to the manufacturer. Make sure you have your receipt or they wont take it back if it was made after the manufacturing date (Mine was made in April 2007). The warranty only lasts one year from purchase. You have to call them and get authorization for the return. Good luck!
