Question about LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer
Very LOUD grinding noise over the past 2-3 weeks. after pondering this noise cause we could barely hear our movie I realized it sounded like a bearing and was actually motivated to finally see what was wrong with it. I could see ample rusty lookin water below the washer as I moved it out to gain access to the rear panel. After cleaning the entire floor I removed the rear panel to expose the rear of the drum and could see again rusty water stains coming from the center of the drum. This somewhat confirmed my assumption of the bearing going out. I continued to get happy being allowed to dismantle my wifes washer and basically stripped everything including the stator assembly, the rotor assembly and so on down to just the sealed bearing at the rear of the outer tub assembly. I'm very handy and for the life of me couldn't figure how to remove the existing bearings to change them and the seal (I only knew there was a seal cause of your very helpful webpage). It was late, I was tired and I didn't have the energy to continue to pull apart the entire machine ( and really don't want to unless I have to). I can see that bearings appear to be pressed onto the spider but called it a night and was excited that we found a website that could actually help the 'at home do it yourselfer'. So now I believe that the bearings are bad but now I'm not quite sure cause of other stuff I found on your website. Thank you in advance for your help and hope to hear from you soon. Your LG washer has a position sensor regulating cycle spinning, when it is faulty you will also have noise when spinning, but in this case you usually get an additional error message on display.
Check here, this is solution to position sensor problem
Check bearing first, and also find out where the rust came from.

Just had my LG WM 2277 HW bearing replaced. Technician was here 5 hours. Full disassemble to remove tub and replace outer tub. Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty. $502.00. parts were Rear tub including rubber drains and rear tub damper, spin basket, bellow w/ spring clamp. LG did not recommend tub gasket replacement, but I would recommend it since the old one stretches out when you remove it. I had the same rusty water spot on the rear of the bearing area. Good luck

CE is an error stating that you have a problem with you board or possibly the stator on your unit. Either way your going to need service. You can ohm out your stator to see if it is the problem.
Check the back harness, maybe it has come loose, remove the back panel and it is the blue connector.

the best way is to have some one hold the drum from the front and turn the nut. it can also be done sometimes by turning the drum in the opposite direction and then pop it with the wrench. not the best way but it works.or you can hold the stator assy with one hand and tap your wrench with a hammer.i hope thia was helpful, would like to here how things worked out.
