Computer does not work

My boyfriend's computer is not working.  I disconnected the Cable Connection on the Mother Board but some of the cables he forgot where they were.  We are trying to locate a manual to assist us with the above problem but could find one.  If you know where we could get one please let him know.  His name is Paul and he can be reached via telephone at (248) 543-0066 until 2 p.m or anytime after 6 p.m.  He has a Doctors appointment at 4 p.m.
Thank you, Marilyn Sammut msammut@lycos.com

The white power light and orange standby light on front of the cpu isn't working.

If the rest of the computer is working, chances are that the cable from the lights to the mother board got disconnected or reversed (yes, polarity is important)

My computer seems to boot up fine but my monitor says no signal and my keyboard doesnt work

You can try tighten up the cable behind the monitor or disconnect the cables and reconnect. You can try another monitor to see whether the mother board and the cable works. Some settings in BIOS may be changed to use on-board video card (the one embeded on the mother board, which is connected on the ports out of the card slots) on your computer so make sure it is using the graphic card that is connected to the monitor. For keyboard, if may be mechanic issue on port or keys or cables if you will not see anything wrong about the keyboard. You can try to use another USB port if it is an USB keyboard or use a USB/PS2 converter if the PS2 keyboard port is not working. If it is a PS2 keyboard, you can check whether the pins are bent and reconnect it. Sometimes that helps. If it is a wireless keyboard, then you will need to fix the monitor and then maybe fix the driver and stuff. You can remove all objects beneath the keys by putting it upside down and shake it or use a blower.

My power button on the front of my computer flashes yellow. When this happens, I cannot even turn the computer off and my monitor is blank. Could this also be a power supply problem or something else?

most likely is *********** board that went bad, the only way to exactly know is having someone to look at it.
power supply is not the problem hopefully is just an unplugged cable on the mother board

sorry

Blank screen but sounds like computer is on

If the screen is blank, since you press the power button then you can try to use another monitor to see the functionality.

Or

You can disconnect the VGA cable of the monitor but keep it powered on, if you get a display on the screen like "Check input signal or Check video cable" then monitor is fine.

If you are using a Dedicated video card in your pc then disconnect it and try using the on board graphics port and see if its working.

Shrey

When i login my computer I just get black screen try to reset or confiuate says primary and scondary drive 1 not found

HI Dear,

This is a hardware related issue. This might be due to following problems :

1. The data cable that connects your hard-drive to the mother board might have picked up some fault.

2. The mother board is not working.

3. The Hard-drive might be corrupted.

To see what exactly is causing this. Remove your Hard disk and try to on your friends computer. If its working fine then its the other two issues.
To check for the mother board and the data cable. remove the hard drive aand try t with another one. If the motherboard reads this hard drive then it is sure there is no issue with the motherboard and the data cable.

Now if trying above you see that HD is not detected. then replace the data cable and then try the HD on your computer. If it reads then there is no fault in *********** board. So replace the data cable and get a new one.

And if it does not reads then the motherboard have some issue. In that case i would suggest you to take your comp to nearest service station.

hope this works out. If it does not and if you have more queries that need to answered then please do write to us once again.

Have a nice day.

Emachines T3958 will not turn on

Check the fuse on the inside of it and see if it is not blown, if not blown change it any way it may not look like it is blown but it is hard to tell, and see if that work.
