I am assuming you just updated your phone Robert and if you have not used a smart phone before it is very daunting. One of the unknown things is using your finger. Unlike your old phone the smart phone is touch screen so drag your finger across the screen and it goes to the next page also touch icons on the screen to select. So if you want to call there will be a phone icon. They usually also assume everyone knows how to use a smart phone and do not provide a user manual.
find the model number under the battery
then try and find a user manual

Try master reset code

there must be an application creating that prob. most probably a third party software u have installed. u have to hard reset ur cell phone. consult user guide of ur cell for instructions

Symbol "G" and "E" are not related to this problem."G" means GPRS and "E" means Internet .The charging problem might comes due to bad charger or cgharging coil might fused or charging filter (IC) might sort.

That symbol means that there are msgs waiting to be sent in the out box. You cant get rid of it as there are msgs in the out box. Either send them or remove them.

If you have your user instructions , it tells you there how to rest the prog, you select the mark on the dial that shows the ! symbol. if you need instructins then go to www.hotpointservice.co.uk
Then click on-------manuals user guides handbooks.
Type your model number in the search box ,and download the instructions

The recorder symbol means that you have a voice mail and as with the E I have looked myself and cant find anything on it
