Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hi I bought a Canon Canoscan FS4000US used online. No driver came with product. Canon website does not offer any downloads when viewing canon website with WIndows Vista 64 Bit. It does show available...

When I go to the Canon site, I get prompted to select my OS: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_fs4000us#DriversAndSoftware . On other parts of the Canon support site, I need to click on a Change OS link to get that dropdown menu or swap to the Select OS in that dropdown menu and then refresh the page. Then I can select a new OS. (Note the site uses Javascripts that do not seem compatible with all browsers. I found it worked with Firefox 6.0.2 . The exact location is hidden until you agree to the Canon Terms of Use.)

However, this driver, fs4000usvst103ben.exe, is listed as a Vista 32-bit driver released in 2007. Since the 64-bit Windows requires signed drivers, Canon doesn't make 64-bit drivers for their older scanners. (This scanner was released with compatibility with Win98.) Thus you will probably get an error message about the unsigned driver when you try to install it.

If the driver refuses to install, you may be able to run the driver installer by using the compatibility mode. Download the file and save it to your hard drive. Right click on the exe file and choose Properties. In the Compatibility Tab, select Run this Program in the Compatibility Mode and choose XP. Click Apply and then OK. Right click again on the exe and choose Run as Administrator.

I hope this helps.

I am having difficulty finding an update for my Canoscan 5000f scanner Many websites say they can do it free - then ask for money - I don't trust them. I changed computers and OS from XP to Visa

Hi
You can download your drivers directly from Canon. On the link page scroll down in the OS select box and you'll find Vista.Just select that and your drivers will come up.
If this helps, please rate my post?
Thanks

No driver for Canoscan FB 630U Vista 64 bit

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Canon supports this scanner under Vista. Check if the Windows generic TWAIN scanner driver will work. The Canon software won't work. If the generic driver can be installed, then you should be able to acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera), Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) (some versions of Vista) or Windows Photo Gallery (IIRC it works like Paint).

I hope this helps.

(Canon wants you to upgrade. I have a different scanner that isn't officially supported past XP and the generic driver works fine. Unfortunately, you can't just use the XP driver in the compatibility mode due to the lack of signed drivers that are required in the 64-bit OS)

Canoscan D646U ex not working on windows vista os

That is because their is no VISTA driver written for that model, because that model was not made for the VISTA OS. If you were told it would work, they were wrong. It is unlikely that CANON wil ever have a driver written for VISTA for an older model, but it could happen, especially if enough people wrote to ask for it?
