Chamberlan 1/2 hp security + not working

Hello Guys:

My garage door open was working perfectly, until the chain came off the track. I put the chain back on the tract and now the garage door opener track goes forward as opposed to backward (so the opener tries to push the door down into the pavement as opposed to trying to open it) and then goes back to its original position..
I have tried resetting the system, tinkering with the up and down dials but nothing works..

ps any suggestions wouyld be great.

thank you
Ian

Chain attached when the door was in wrong position

pop off chain , push button and wait till motor stops , reattach the chain

Try
take the chain off
push the remote so that the motor turns and stops
then reattach the chain

sounds like you put the chain on with the door in the opposite position

My Chamberlain 1/2 HP will occasionally only open the door half way, forcing me to manually open and close the door. But then it will suddenly begin working again all on it's own. What can I do abou

most likely there is a safety overload switch that will stop if the rollers on the track ( the steel that the door rolls in) is dry and needs to be greased so it can roll in the tracks freely also check the chain for the same, the chain drive should be free of any junk stuck on it ,the chain should not be to tight or twisted in any way, if it seems to be leaning one way or the other twist it straight with a pair of pliers also be sure its power source is not share with any other appliance. let me know of your progress.

My chamberlan garage door opener keeps beeping

The only thing on a chamberlain garage door opener that can beep is the battery back up unit. It beeps if it is being used or if it has lost it's charge or if it has lost the power to be charged. There is also an led light that will give you information on the status up by the battery too. These will be in your manual to decipher. You can get a new battery at chamberlain.com Thanks BB

Garage door opener... goes one way but the other way it clicks....?

It clicks because there is something obstructing it. It is designed to give way as a safety feature. Examine the chain and track along with the sprocket to the motor where the chain connects and look for obstruction of some kind.

Garage door doesn't open or close

You should check the gears inside the box, After years , the gears get dry and die, you can by online or from Sears the kit and replace the old gears. I just changed mine...not too difficult :) .

Replaced sprocket and worm gear on chamberlain 1/2 opener

The easiest way to fix this would be to take the chain off the sproket with the door and the trolley in the down position. Next hit the wall button and pay attn. to weather the gear is turning clockwise, you want it to turn that direction, wait until the unit stops by itself, next put the chain back on and now you should be able to adjust the limits. otherwise you should call a local professional. They will usually service your door as well as fix your opener.
