I have a scanport 19" monitor and it will stay on for a little while and then go off and I have to repeatedly keep pushing the on and off button to be able to see what I am doing. If you leave it off for a little while then it will come on for a little while and then go off. Any help greatly appreciated

I am in computers. This is either a #1. display that is going out. #2. the video card fails some times, #3. or the monitor is not plugged in all the way. #4. The VGA cable is not firmly attached to the Momputer/monitor. Your VGA IN message that the computer does not have its signal to the monitor that the connection to the computer is good. God Bless

You can try a different cable for VGA. Check if the port is lose. The green light is only indicating a proper power supply to the monitor. The display is very much dependent on the VGA cable. If your monitor also has HDMI port, you can try to connect using that cable (provided the display adaptor also has HDMI port). If nothing works for you, take it to a hardware engineer or local repair shop.

Certainly, if you jumper the connections to see which ones turn the monitor on or off, then you can go to an electrical supply place and get a micro switch and wire it in in place of the power button, or perhaps find a type that is flat that the power button can press. What you need to determine is if it is a push-on, push -off type switch, which always stays on or off depending on position or if it is a momentary interrupt switch where the button pressed momentarily turns it on and then releases and a second press connects the circuit to turn it off. You can do this by testing with your jumper wire, attach it and if the monitor stays on when you remove it, then goes off when you attach it again, you need the second type switch, if it goes off when removed, you need the always-on always -off first type switch. .

The easiest way to check this problem out is take your monitor over to someone who has a computer or if you have an extra computer at home hook the monitor up to see if it stops doing this. Then you will know if it is not the monitor. Then you can focus on the video card going bad or is bad. Change the card with a new one, problem is solved. Check the cables connections make sure they are not loose as well. Restart you computer also discharge it by pushing in the power button in while the computer is unplugged from the wall. John

Choose the auto adjust option

Disconnected Data cable from the monitor to the back of the CPU. Do a self test on monitor if u get colors on the monitor it is working fine.
check for loose cables. Try to do factory reset on monitor using buttons on monitor.
