have had this problem myself and wasted many discs you need a new burner but there is a work around to this problem

just leave the disc open so that more data can be added and no more problems

Why cannot play dvd on my HP pavilion zv 5000
You must install DVD player in your PC first, i.e. Power DVD.
You can download the installer software from these links, but this is trial version, you have to buy to get the full version, or you can search a crack but use it at your own risk :

Hi!

follow these steps to acquire working serial key.
1. Click this link : http://www.serials ..
on the Search box type your software version (example: cyberlink powerdvd 6 deluxe)..then click Search..
2. Select your software and version.
3. On the Type Here box...type the numbers you see in the smartserials and press the Get Serial Number..

the list of working numbers will be listed (Note :some are not working.. so find same version with different category..it will work too)

I used Cyberlink for some time... got frustrated with various problems and moved on to other apps... BUT if yours works well, try the updates direct from Cyberlink here:

Okay, lets first solve your DVD problem. First of all do you have a DVD burner?If so read on. Next is the burner an internal burner or external burner? If it is an internal burner contact the company for the drivers. If it is an external device see if it came with a CD. If it did install it, if not Add the hardware to your computer with the add hardware wizard. If you need instructions just tell me.

Start up from a Mac OS X Install CD (one whose version is closest the the version of Mac OS X installed). You should first disable Open Firmware password protection, if it is enabled. Hold the C key as the computer starts.
  1. Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger). Tip: If you don't see this menu or menu choice, you're probably not started from the CD yet.
  2. Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
  3. Set the user name of your original administrator account.
    Important: Do not select "System Administrator (root)". This is actually a reference to the root user. Do not confuse it with a normal administrator account.
