Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100
Every now and then my Pearl decides to switch off wireless communication. There doesn't appear to be any pattern to it, it just happens.
Once its switched off, I can't send or receive SMS and presumably won't receive calls.
I've tried going to the "Turn Wireless On / Off" toggle but this still seems to think Wireless is on so the only option is to turn it Off!
Usually, while I'm messing around trying to fix the problem, it comes back on, all on its own.
This is one of those nagging issues that just makes using this phone a PITA at times.
I am having the same issue with BB 7190 with mike (walkie talkie) network. I have similar issues. It started off with the phone disconnecting from the network. It would take a long time to reconnect. Thereafter, the wireless would turn on/off at it own accord. I changed the phone with the service provider two times and they finally agreed that it was not the phone. They thought it was the SIM card and a new one was installed. Still the same problem. A friend gave me his own BB 7190 with mike and I have the same issue. Calling the technical support resulted in them opening a work ticket indicated a network issue. The result was not a network but a software issue. I have been out of a phone for the last month with no success from the telephone service provider ... Telus in Canada. My comment is that Telus and other carriers are turning to GPM network (international network) and they are sorting out of issues. Todate, I don't have a phone that works and so far, I am not impressed with the BB.
