Hi, thanks for being available. i bought this system about 6 months ago on line so i cant take it back to the shop.... i was playing a cd and it just stopped. i tried a diffferent cd i tried a cd cleaner, it just comes up on the readout after it goes faint to say 'no disc'
i rang the customer help line and they said it needed the component changing and would cost about $aud 70- 80 and maybe i should buy a new unit. i like this unit for my bedroom and don't mind paying the money if that fixes it, but the repair company i can use won't tell me anything until i pay $39 up front. any suggestions?

CD players have a certain amount of mechanical parts to them that a radio does not. If the cd is not turning at the right speed, or the last is not tracking properly then it will not work. Even a small amount of dirt on the lens will cause it to stop working.
I installed car audio equipment for over 38 year befor i (Retired) End all so am a (Certified) Electronic (Technician) It will cost you more to have it (Repaired) Then to just go out end buy a decent new one.
Hi, First press and hold Track-Up and Mode buttons at same time on unit for three seconds to reset disc player, then check if cd get release. In some cases, performing a reset on the MCD6 may resolve your problem. First try resetting the MCD6 player by pressing the TRACK UP and POWER buttons at the same time. If that does not work, remove the plastic front cover by pulling straight out and press the RESET button below the keypad. If your MCD6 player still does not operate, please take off cover from cd player and try to manually release wedged cd in unit. If loading gears worn out then nothing will help to fix the unit, please contact local repair shop or M&S Systems at (214).358-3 196 Hope these info will help you. Let me know if you have any question. Thanks.
This happens when your laser is not able to read the data of the disc. Either u are using disc which the player cannot read or the disc is not readable. If your CD player is not reading the discs which it used to read earlier then CD player laser head has to be replaced.
I had the same problem with a pair of mpcds-6 bought a year apart that developed the same fault a few weeks ago, the repair technician said the units use a belt drive for the loading / eject system, cost was £90.00 for replacement belts for both units which included a
clean up and healthcheck of the lasers, ensure a genuine replacement belt is fitted. this should solve your problem.
I think your player was not upgraded to read vol. 6 cd, in able to read the vol. 6 you need to upgrade your player in ver. 103. You can go to their website and ask for for the file to be download to upgrade your player.
just read about your issue with the gemini's 02, have had the same ones since december 06, and have had the same problems as you, mainly my 'play' buttons that broke down into the machine.
The first time I had it repaird by the shop I bought them at, after that had several times where the paly button broke into the machine. What I do now is to open the player by unscrewing the screws and it 'tape' the button where it should be.
The tricky thing is that when opening the player, there's like a sound card on top of the buttons, so you need to get that tape in between the card and the button, I learned to do this with a tweaser;
Having said that, I will also tell you that I've had it with this gemini hassle and that I will move to pioneer soon;
