How can i istall windows server 2000 on Dell Poweredge T300

Windows 2000 is not supported on this machine. The closest you could get is using a hypervisor XenServer or VMWare ESXi and then installing Windows 2000 on a virtual machine.

I tried installing windows server 2008 on my Ibm x236. after the installation completes when the system reboots I'm getting error msg. file: \windows\system 32\drivers\wdf01000.sys

that is a Western Digital driver file......for your hard drives likely.

If you are using RAID, then make sure that the RAID is the correct one, and if not, then make sure in the BIOS, you have NOT selected a RAID option.

If those do not seem to be at issue, then attempt to boot in Safe Mode with Networking. That error has been known to have other driver(s) unrelated to the WD driver.

Network driver download

sunfire v20z linux broadcom driverAccording to the following PDF: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19121-01/sf.v20z/817-7183-12/817-7183-12.pdf
, a .zip file containing Windows drivers, including a Broadcom Device driver is located at http://www.sun.com/servers/entry/v20z/downloads.html

For Linux and other OS drivers, you need to specify the version you're running, or add it to these Google search parameters:

sun fire v20z linux broadcom driver

(Broadcom came from the available Windows drivers. It's possible that another NIC device is installed.)

FROM WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD WINDOWS XP SP2 LAN DRIVER FOR HP PROLIANT ML110 G6

Hi ppswalia

Since this is a Server, rather than an ordinary Desktop computer, it is not designed to work with normal Windows XP Operating Systems. It is designed to work specifically with Windows, Unix and Linux Server Applications. See here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=3577715&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3577708

There are 2 things you can try.

You can try installing the LAN/Ethernet Drivers for the various Windows Server versions from the above official HP Downloads and Drivers Support Website and see if one of them just happens to coincidentally be compatible with XP SP2.

Assuming there are no further compatibility issues between other Server Motherboard Devices and Win XP SP2 Drivers, you could open the Server case and either bypass any on-board LAN/Ethernet/NIC Port or remove any separate LAN/Ethernet/Network Card installed and install, instead, a pre-confirmed Win XP compatible LAN/Ethernet/NIC Card and then install the drivers for the new card.

I hope this helps.

Hi, i have a MPC Netframe 3610 server with windows 2000 server installed. now i want to install windows xp but i get the folllowing error: no disk found after boot from cd. why?

You will need to use the F2 option during the initial loading process to load RAID drivers for whatever RAID controller your hard drives are connected to. You caould probably get around it by installing an internal IDE hard drive and loading the OS to that too

The booting-up sequence stops at "DHCP loading" for about 1 minute then the display on the monitor switches to a simple animation illustrating a floppy disk being installed. I guess that the disk required...

Your question exceeds the time and space limits I have for FixYa answers but I will give you quick high-level that should move you in the right direction.

When a system cannot find a bootable disk it will attempt to use its network adapter to boot from a network share. The network adapter needs an IP adress to perform this task so it attempts to get an address from a DHCP server. If there is no DHCP server it cannot access the network or a share to boot from.

First, make sure the system is configured to boot to the CD-ROM/DVD drive first. Make sure that if you have an SBS DVD installation disk that you have a DVD drive on the server.

Second, you must "Press any key" when the server attempts to boot to the CD/DVD or it will just move on to the next bootable device.

Third, if you are installing to a RAID or SCSI controller you will need to press F6 when the install begins. Later you will be prompted to insert the diskette that has your RAID/SCSI driver. The driver can be downloaded from the controller mfg's website.

Finally, finish your OS install by answering the prompts, installing all of the hardware drivers and installing all Windows critical and security updates.

I could keep typing out details and possible challenges for days. I have been an engineer for 15-years and I still run into unusual events that require me to make educated guesses.

You may find that bringing in an expert could save you significant time and ensure that this is done correctly. Even I call out for help from time to time.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Good luck!

Problems installing windows server 2000

Hello,

Make sure the hardware is compatiable with Server 2000. Most of the time you will run into a stale if hardware is not compatiable or windows does not have a compatiable driver for those devieces. If you have the drivers for your hardware, install those at the begining of the server install. (You will see at the bottom of the screen press F3 to install 3rd party drives. After the drivers are installed, you should be able to proced.

Good Luck,

My Dell PowerEdge 840 will not allow me to install Windows 2000 Server software. Evidently, the 840's graphics card does not contain the drivers for Windows 2000 Server. Is there a solution?

I am not sure where you got your information but I just checked Dell's website and they have Windows 2000 drivers for your server which include the video driver.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WNT5&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=PWE_P4_840&hidos=WNET&hidlang=en&TabIndex=)

If you are still having a problem then you should call Dell support. Every Dell server has lifetime free phone support.

If this helps please vote for my solution.
