DCR HC-42 LCD screen problem

Till yesterday LCD screen of Sony DCR-HC42 was working fine. But suddenly today LCD screen is not showing anything while I want to shoot anything.
Please help me.
I have the sony dcr hc 21E digital camcorder for two years. goood job done . but recently the lcd came dead and no display to control or view. opened and found the connecting strip found broke . where do i get the connecting strip. / what cost would it be/ the decription fp-185, 1-864-761-11 raja

did u get the strip / how much it costs / where did u get it/

for removing it just remove all the screws and u can find one screw when u remove the battery . remove that screw and the plate u find . remove it and u get open.

post the developments in the repair.

-   i think i have the same problem with my DCR-HC21. i can use the camera with the LCD closed (rec, view, etc) but the LCD is black and unresponsive when opened. looking for advice/instructions on how to trouble shoot/open camera to find out what needs fixing. a service manual costs $35 from sony but a download would be much preferred! -MAS -   ramvanman

i have sony handycam DCR-62E, LCD display colour change like violet & redish in may eye glass look real colur but lcd display can not work properly

Hi i had the same problem and i got it for the second time. can i please know how to remove the camera so i can replace the strip my self. And do u have a service manual. if so can i know where to get one for my self. thanks

- Thanks for the reply i have nt had time to look into it. But i was a told by a sony repair center that they ve had customers with similar problems and the strip costs about AU$40. With all the service charge it'll come to 200 so thats why I thought I'd do it my self. Just get the strip off somewhere. I d try the repair shop first.

- I managed to remove the side cover. but how do i go about removing the strip from its connectors. Thank you.
