Can't say its not broken. But, you may have a safety on the motor that only needs to be reseated. Usually, its a red button but can be any color. You may also have a safety switch inside your machine that needs to be reset as well, you'll have to hunt around to find one if one exists.

Washing machines have a "Tilt" switch much like a pinball machine, this needs to be examined that nothing is closing that switch by or as a result of your accident.

Also, check that the machine wasn't on its own circuit and that breaker hasn't popped at the circuit breaker panel.

Really hope this has fixed your dilemma and has you pointed in the right direction.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Balance

It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

(If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal suspension is malfunctioning.)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I would recommend you try my method to make absolutely certain that the washer itself is balanced/level

Machine rocking, very noisy and one brick is broken in the back

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

These guidance note will show you how to check and adjust the balance BUT I don't understand the bit about the broken brick -we cannot help you with that, sorry. Whoever looks after the building will have to sort that out ;-0(

My GE washing maching is out of balance and the interior tube leans to the right.. it spend fine with out clothes but once you put clothes in the machine it rocks like crazzy.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France
(Certainly start off by getting the machine balanced and stable) --------->

I mostly answer front load problems but ' out of balance' is a common problem with both!
So- I don't know your particular machine but the initial cure is the same.
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine, even when empty, has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)

Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal drum suspension is malfunctioning.

Good luck,

The digital timer on the machine will say 1 minute to go, but the machine will run on the spin cycle for 6 to 8 minutes before it finishes. Is there a part I can replace to correct this problem?

Your washer displays an estimate of time remaining in the current wash cycle. That estimate is based on the load finishing without any delays. Prior to going into a high speed spin, your washer "tests" the load balance by either rocking or slowing rotating.

If it senses and off balance condition, it will attempt to "rebalance" the load by itself and then retest, rebalance, etc. until it is satisfied that the load is as balanced as possible. Then it begins to spin. When your washer takes longer than is predicted in the display, it is because of this.

there are two causes to this problem.1 at the top of the machine is a balance, cement brick [it may be broken]it balances the drum.2 adding a small load/ie;one towel;one item etc,or small items.adrian,,,,,

During spin, machine moves!

Hi,

Did you remove the transport rods from the back of the unit? this will cause the unit to jump around a lot when it goes into the spin cycle. Also make sure the feet are all level and the unit doesn't rock from side to side.

Does the Kenmore 600 washing machine have an out of balance switch that will turn off the spin cycle when out of balance?

Yes it will turn off if it really starts rocking. If this is happening a lot check the level of the machine and adjust the legs accordingly.
