CDE6500W Not Heating

I'm not sure if my heating element is bad or one of the fuses is bad. Can I tell if the heating element is bad without buying anything or having a service guy come out?

The part number is 53-1641. It comes with a high limit and is around $50. You must pop the top on this unit and you will finnd the element in the rear of the dryer. A simple and easy fix.CDE6500W Not Heating - 15081c8.jpg

It appears you have a Electric dryer (220V)So, if you feel any heat at all after its been on for say 2 minutes than your element is fine.Your problem is most likely the air thats leaving the dryer is being blocked. If you want to be 100% sure its not a vent problem than do this..run the dryer for ONE load on timed dry cycle (60 minutes)without the vent hose attached and you'll know in 60 minutes if its ok.This is the easiest way to help you.If you can ,place a nylon sticking around the vent hose for this one time so it doesnt blow dust around.I'll be happy to guide you through this.

most common cause is burn out of the thermal cut-out. These are a small screw on device on the exhaust duct, when exhaust air reaches too high a temperature, like a blockage, they fail before a fire.
Clean the exhaust ducts all the way to the outside wall, lots of vent hoods block over time. then examin the exhaust duct for devices that look like this ce71633.jpg or like this b8e6372.jpg with wires connected to the terminals. there may be 2(hi lo), test with a flashlilight bulb or ohmmeter conductivity good, no conductivity replace.
there are only a few different kinds the local parts guy will have them all. take the dud one for him to match.

Where is the thermal fuse for a crosley cde6500w

The thermal fuse for this dryer is located on the right side of the heating element behind and near the top/left of the drum. You will see two white wires leading to it. The Thermostat is right above the heating element - two red wires lead to it.

Whirlpool Duet dryer not drying like it used to

If your duet isn't heating properly and you have taken care of the lint problem then you could have one of two problems. Either you have a bad heating element or you have a bad fuse or temperature sensor.
If your dryer is not heating at all then it is most likely the fuse or temp sensor. If it is heating and just not enough it is probably a bad heating element.
Both problems would require a repairman to come and fix normally, however if you believe it is the heating element that can usually be replaced by the homeowner without too much trouble. Just make sure to ask where it is located from whatever place you but the new element from.
