My Sears Craftsman liftmaster will not connect with the Genie wireless garage door keypad when I followed the directions on the Craftsman or the Genie.

There has got to be a way to do it. When we purchased our house two months, they installed a new Liftmaster Opener for us to replace an inoperable Genie garage door opener and kept the old Genie Keyless system. They worked together perfectly until I tried to change the entry code. Now we can't get it to reprogram...but it can obviously be done. There has got to be a way to do it.
