Since i brought my ps3 on ebay when ever i play it it freezes after 20 - 30 mins, after it freezes if i reset it it will turn on slowly and then wont show the game up and if it does show the game it will freeze when i try to play it.

Hi, you may have a problem with the lead give it a good wiggle all the way from the ps to the telly if that dont work try and borrow a friends lead to rule out the lead being the problem, if it still dont work then try the following to reset the console.

This is how to fix it:
1)turn your ps3 -off- by the switch at the back
2)turn it back -on- again by the switch at the back only
(there should be a red light now)
3)now -hold- your thumb on the power button located on the front for a few seconds until the ps3 turns itsself on and off.
(during this process there will be about three beeps spaced apart,and after that the light will return to red)
4)finally hold your thumb on the front power button again and you will hear two beeps then a double beep.
-IMPORTANT-
After you hear the double beep take your thumb off the button before it shuts itself down again.
5)once you have done that you should see the picture.

if after doing the above it still dont work then this would indicate it has over heated so try the following.

1 switch the ps3 off and leave it off for at least an hour
2 remove all leads from ps3 and tv
3 make sure the ps3 is not being used on carpet or on top of dvd player or sky box as this will cause it to over heat very quick
4 make sure all the air vents are clean and have no dust vac them out if needed.
5 make sure the ps3 has got good air flow around it and not stuck inside a shelf thats blocked off at the back as this to will cause it to over heat.
6 now plug it back in and give it a try.

if it still dont work then this would indicate the gpu chip has over heated and has probably fried.
if you have any warranty left on it take it back as this fault is covered by warranty.

i fix these for about 25 pound plus parts so you need to shop around and see if you can get it repaired, their is no guarantee the repair will work as their is always the chance that it has over heated that much that it has cracked the solder joints that hold the chip onto the circuit board.
