"Alert previous attempt at booting the system has failed at checkpoint emem {EMem}."
This is a No Post issue and if youre going to check the quadpack it will show yygg which indicates memory failure.
Quick Step : Reseat memory
If cust has more than 1 memory, test each memory on each slots until you find the memory that’s causing the error message and send a replacement for the faulty memory.

XP Pro offers a few more features than XP Home like remote desktop, a program you can use to connect to someone else's pc or request someone to connect to your pc if you need help.

Depends on your need and level of expertise.

The computer failed to complete the boot routine three consecutive times for the same error.

Could be that the HDD is corrupt. Try reformatting and reinstalling OS.

Try replacing the CMOS battery.

You may have damaged he memory stick(s) by handling them when you are statically charged, during the cleaning process. Try to borrow sticks from someone else, handle them with care and try again.

All else fails, contact Dell.

XP home is a good buy. Better than Vista in the sense that not all devices and software are compatible with Vista. XP has been tried and tested, and is faster to boot up, so I recommend that. (Besides, its a lot cheaper as well, if you can do without all the fancy graphics in Vista)

Computer wear and tear causes slowdowns...how?

Well when your hard drive spins slower than it should be you must replace it. As well as all hardware troubles that might arise through years of use.

But for the software side meaning your registries etc... simply reformating you system will put back to the same speed as it use to be.

Hi I have a Compaq Presario SR1910AN that after reformating the sound driver wont work can you help Cheers Michael

What did you format, and why do you expect to hear anything from your PC after you did that to the main drive? Go make a question in the non-general, Compaq Presario SR1910AN PC category, and say what's wrong with the drivers! Say what complaints the Device Manager has if you're using Windows, and give a bit of detail as to what driver you loaded, what went strangely, whether you can get a mixer up to set audio levels, etc.

Hard Drive Failing?

It may be a virus or spyware. You can go HERE and run Trend Micro's Housecall on your PC. It's free.

You should also perform regular system cleanups and defrags on your pc.
