Not Powering on (by 2 users)

Hi! I had e740 for at about 5 years. Until I used it myself it was working ok. I then gave it to a friend of mine. The only problem I had at that point (about a year ago) was that the battery was discharging really fast however it was still working OK and was recharging. Then the recharging problem increased so my friend purchased brand new battery however the scene didn't change much. Now the PDA won't turn on at all. I have already checked that the battery lock is in the correct position and the battery switch is on the left but still no go. Any idea?
