Question about Sirius Starmate ST2 Satellite Radio Receiver
Mine did the loop logo as well. I took it aprt and turned on the power and touched one of the chips, it all of a sudden started heating up, I then figured the heat sink wasn't dissapating the heat from the chip. I stuck a square piece of tin foil folded up so that the chip would then touch the heat sink works perfect now

Your radio has a cold solder on one of the chips. You need to reflow your transceiver board (the raised board on ST1) on other models, it's integrated into the main PCB.
- To repair this, all you need is a heat gun or a toaster oven. Start by removing the back cover of your unit, and for ST1 owners the metal plate with 5 screws. ST1 owners: place the removed metal plate over the clip to the left of your transceiver board (it will melt if you don't). Remove your radio from the case if you do not have a ST1 (ST1 owners can leave the radio in the housing).
- If you choose to go with the heatgun method: set the gun to 1000 degrees F and move it back and forth over the PCB until the solder turns shiny. Let it sit for 5 minutes. ST1 owners: do this only for the raised portion of the board.
- If you want to do the toaster oven: remove your LCD from the unit by desoldering the metal bracket securing it to the board and release the ribbon cable. Place your radio in the toaster oven at ~ 500 degrees F until the solder melts. If you see smoke, that's flux. Remove the board after letting cool for 10 minutes.

On some units, if your antenna wire is shorted the unit will not pass the logo screen. Remove antenna and see if it will pass the logo screen. If it does, your antenna is the issue.
