the Sirius name with dog comes on... it tries to connect to channel, but it goes back to logo

Our Starmate ST2 is also stuck on the Logo Screen. We are very disappointed because it is not that old and we have also purchased a boom box for it. We are reluctant to buy another one and have it die in a couple years also. Would love to find a solution to this problem.

Has any1 found a solution. My starts and then just loops on the SIRIUS logo. unit is a couple of years old too (Grin). Well I am missing HOWARD and it is very dissapointing. Any solutions are welcome. BTW I opened the receiver, took it all apart and put it back together thinking that something might have come loose, but it still has the same problem.

I have a Starmate3 with the same problems and only two years old - only the Logo signal comes on and no buttons will work. Tried everything but can't even get the back off after taking out the screws! Sirius Customer Service was a complete waste of time and didn't offer solutions or suggestions. In fact they didn't even answer my email questions. Poor, poor customer relations. Like the others why purchase a new one when obviously Sirius has a problem with some units. In fact they can't even tell me who the manufacturer is??? Not a happy customer

I have the ST2, same problem. Sirius says its a defect in the componentry because it wont reactivate. My power connector came loose in the car and when it powered back up, it said it was downloading updates. Right after "100% download," the logo screen appeared. :-( Hmmmm..a manufacturers defect?? Being an electrical engineer..usually when an electronic device last for one year, its good to go for a long, long, time. This sounds like the good ole planned obsolescence conspiracy. My radio just died and I bought it 7-9-2006..just about 2 yrs 4 months. Sound familiar. Good Luck

Mine did the loop logo as well. I took it aprt and turned on the power and touched one of the chips, it all of a sudden started heating up, I then figured the heat sink wasn't dissapating the heat from the chip. I stuck a square piece of tin foil folded up so that the chip would then touch the heat sink works perfect now

Your radio has a cold solder on one of the chips. You need to reflow your transceiver board (the raised board on ST1) on other models, it's integrated into the main PCB.

- To repair this, all you need is a heat gun or a toaster oven. Start by removing the back cover of your unit, and for ST1 owners the metal plate with 5 screws. ST1 owners: place the removed metal plate over the clip to the left of your transceiver board (it will melt if you don't). Remove your radio from the case if you do not have a ST1 (ST1 owners can leave the radio in the housing).

- If you choose to go with the heatgun method: set the gun to 1000 degrees F and move it back and forth over the PCB until the solder turns shiny. Let it sit for 5 minutes. ST1 owners: do this only for the raised portion of the board.

- If you want to do the toaster oven: remove your LCD from the unit by desoldering the metal bracket securing it to the board and release the ribbon cable. Place your radio in the toaster oven at ~ 500 degrees F until the solder melts. If you see smoke, that's flux. Remove the board after letting cool for 10 minutes.

On some units, if your antenna wire is shorted the unit will not pass the logo screen. Remove antenna and see if it will pass the logo screen. If it does, your antenna is the issue.

Try removing the - negative - black battery terminal for at least 5 minutes then reconnect it. NOTE All of your preset radio stations clock and other settings will also be reset. Check your owners manual for more information.

Look for a reset button. I had a problem with my MP3 player, where it wouldn't start at all. Pressed the reset button and off it went.

When i plug my xm player in it gets stuck on media

Mine got stuck like that too. For a while it was possible to hold down the volume button and the mode button at the same time and it would unlock. But now that doesn't work. The Delphi tech support guy said I need to do a firmware update, but that isn't working either.

exact same problem here. the fuse inside is blown, according to sirius tech support. I have a new one "on order" as a warranty replacement. They said it could take up to a month (in canada) i read many bad reviews about this unit... now I agree with them completely. 3 months of light home use before a fuse blows? Pathetic. A month wait for a new one? Unforgivable.

Problem with Xact Communication XTR1 SIRIUS Radio Receiver

Turns out the radio isn't broken after all. In my research on your site I ran across a user who said he/she just plugged their radio in, turned it on and waited. I tried that and after a couple of minutes of a Sirius logo screen, then a blank screen followed by a high pitched beep the radio started playing again. I then remembered that one of the last things I input with the remote before the radio stopped working properly was mistakenly selecting an unwanted prompt on the AutoShutDown menu. When the radio finally came back on I selected Factory Default to reset all functions and now it operates properly. Thanks for the help.

Sirus S50 stuck on dog logo, no other response to on button

I am most certain that you have to return the radio most likely you do have a faulty radio and you have only one or two choices here. Return or take it to a tech...I would use the warrenty and send it back...sounds very faulty...this is common with these radios.

Call Sirius and verify your account is still active. Also, on the S50 make sure you can see your ESN number. If you can, go to the menu and Reset Channels. If you can't do that on your car kit, try it on your home kit.
