Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

The water supply to my my 2004 Maytag Neptune TL top loader will randomally not shut off, casuing the washing machine to file up to the top overflow and flood my first floor. At first it was thought that the pump had failed, on the second flood the digital control panel was replaced, but I think that the problem lies with the water fill solenoid. The tech thinks I am crazy but does offer that I should hall this $1,100.00 Washing Machine to the dump as not fixable, what do you think?

You have several possibles problems

The pressure switch could be faulty or the tube that runs from the pressure switch down to the accumualtor could have a cut or tear in it. solution replace hose.

or The mixing valve could be hanging open also with a piece of debris. solution replace mixing valve

For now turn the water when your not using your machine.

Maytag Neptune TL washer overfilling

yes i would agree the water valve is defective as if unplugged it should close, but also sounds like a pressure sensor or pressure hose problem that is also defective too due to the fact that it should at least start the wash cycle even though the water doesn't stop filling,so also it could be the central control unit, pressure switch or pressure hose

Are you supposed to dilute the fabric softener with water before you put it in the dispenser.........I have a Neptune TL,

Yes it would help it from getting so gumed up, But its not as big of deal on a top loader as it is a front loader

Maytag Neptune TL clutch problems- Class Action Lawsuit??

I sounds like this is a common problem with the Maytag Neptune TL after about 3-5 years. Mine finally went out yesterday after several months of bearings getting louder all of the time. It looks like the bearings and the controller are gone. What happened to washing machines that last 15 - 20 years?

Sounds like lack of communication between the keypad and the control board. Suggest you check for loose connection between them.
