The start knob on my GE Model 453 Dryer is stripped and the metal shaft can't be turned with pliers so I can't start the dryer. Can this be fixed?

The timer needs replacement.
Visit Repairclinic.com and type in your full model number, and all the parts available will list.

If you own a phillips screwdriver, you can replace it in under an hour.

Starter knob on GE dryer came off. Dryer won't turn on.

If it turns hard, the timer may need replaced. But if you can turn the shaft with a pair of pliers and the dryer works, just get a new knob.

Hello, My GE Dryer, Model M460-G timer won't shut off

Sounds like you have a faulty timer switch, check with your local supply house and get the same type of switch.
When you go to replace the timer switch, unplug the dryer, then remove one wire at a time. This will prevent wiring mix-ups.
Good luck,
I hope this helps
