Your monitor is most likely faulty. This can be caused by a number of things, but most likely the screen is failing. I'm afraid that it will need to be replaced, as repairs are not really cost effective. You can confirm the monitor fault by trying it on a different machine.
there should be a default setting in under the menu (on the monitor itself) browse though the menus using the up and down again, look for that defaults option and select it, most monitors have this.
