Question about Canon PIXMA iP8500 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Canon Pixma IP 8500

This printer fails to print and was working fine and tried reinstalling software etc but no difference. tried ink tanks in another printer which works and it proves not out of ink.
Also this IP 8500 fails to put any ink down on any page. No its not driver etc as reinstalled to new harddrive with fresh copy of windows and other canon printer will work on same USB cable.
Any suggestions also ahs anyone a manual for this model.
thanks in advance.

Thanks for info but note it was working fine and all of a sudden wont work. I already tried cleaning and other tests without any luck. would of thought it unusual to be working fine as just printed out 30 pages of text and then tried later in evening and doesnt print at all. Not even colour. P.S I havent done repeated head cleaning at all as working previously fine. Cant imagine all heads clogging up at same time. Is that possible.?
P.S had a look at site for manual but couldnt find any there. bit unlikely Canon or any other manufacturer would be allowing anyone to download manual.

Thanks for info. But as first posting asked for Manual "anyone a manual for this model." Not a users guide.

    HI All ,
I have a PIXMA Ip 8500 and it just stopped working one day. One jst was blocked which was PC and I tried cleaning it, after that it just refused to work. I cleaned the head in an ultrasonic bath but that just made matters much much worse. The prints were absolutely terrible and I have not been able to fix it since. New head is about $170, NO way. I rather write the machine off and get something better where the parts are more affordable.

Suddenly stopped printing in any colour. Print head moves, paper is fed but blank page comes out. It had been idle for 10 days or so...

Sounds like the print head is bad or seriously clogged. If you have done repeated print head cleanings with no success, I believe Canon sells the print head if your unit is out of warranty.

Manuals available for download here.

The link above works properly. This appears to be a dynamically generated page, so you may need to wait a few seconds for the contents to show up, but I see User's Guides for both Windows and Mac, Easy Setup Instructions, and a Quick Start Guide on this page. Canon has online manuals for all consumer products they have put out in the last 6 or 8 years.

The Magenta has stopped printing, but the ink tank is still nearly full. I tried another new ink tank but it is still the same.

While changing the ink tanks there can be possible erros for the software to adjust with the new ink cartridge. So remove printer and reinstall the software, thenmake a test print , if the fault still shows up, a possible chance of the head being faulty is not ruled out.

Sir , my printer canon pixma ip 1200 when i start to print it show waste ink obsorber is full. please help

Hi. I think the problem on that one is the waste ink tank is already full, so you need to clean it or replace the pads on it, because when you are printing or opening your printer it blows little amount of ink to the heads so that it will not be clogged, and that ink goes into the used/waste ink tank. Also after cleaning the used/waste ink tank you need to reset the counter of the printer so that it would print again, you can just download the counter reset software2_bing.gif over the internet or just bring that machine to an authorize canon printer technician. Hope this Helps

Only test pages print perfectly!!

If when you print a test page it comes out perfectly, that means that the printer works, and the problem is communication between the printer and Mac.

Try the following:

Start testing a different USB cable and a different port.
Unplug Mac, and eventually remove the battery.
Unplug the printer power cable and USB.
Put the mac back toghether and restart it with printer usb not connected.
When mac is on, reinstall printer software driver, with Mac still not connected to printer, using printer disk or download.
Connect printer to Mac when asked by software.

If that still does not work, test the printer on a different computer, even if it is not common, the printer may have a faulty USB port.

Canon pixma mp780

Try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers.

Is the error light flashing?

From the printer utility can you print a nozzle check sheet or align the printhead?

Does it seem to be printing (feeding sheet and moving printhead) or nothing happening at all?

Try removing all the tanks, take out the head. If blocked try cleaning manualy by running warm water over the ink ports/printhead jets - dry off and reinstall.
