Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
my boys each have a white xbox live 360.
I have comcast service running into a cable mode and into a 8 port cable/dsl router that are are wired teach xbox The Linksys router is model BEFSR81. I contacted Linksis to unrestrict the NAT from strict to open
Everything seemed to run fine but recently when one of my sons goes onto play, he is able to identify his players and begin a game. when my other son turns his box on, it seaches for players, identifies them them restarts the seach for players again and essentially does not allow him to begin a game. Whoever turns their Xbox on fr a game first I gues is the winner. The router is new and modem and wiring all check out fine
On the network page of the Xbox, all iems pass when a test is run.
many thanks Gregg
A couple of things you can try:
1. do a full hard reset of the router. This is done by pressing on a small recess button at the rear of the LinkSys. Of course doing this will revert the unit back to factory default. Pls have all configurations and settings backed up or written down;
2. Try using static IP adds at each XBox (if able);
3. verify that the DHCP feature is enable in the LinkSys.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.

A router shares your internet connection with local computers and devices on your local area network. Microsoft's xbox live requires a connection to your IP address on a certain port. This will be a problem when using 2 xboxes so what you would need to do is contact your Internet Service Provider, explain that you are using a router and require an additional Static IP Address.
Once they provide you the details for this, you can manually set up one of the xboxes with the static details your isp has given you.
This should stop the 2 xbox conflicting over connecting to the internet, as they will be running on seperate ip addresses.
Hope this helps.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
