It sounds like you need to change the separation pad in the paper cassette and the manual feed tray. The separation pad in the tray is relatively easy to change. The multi purpose tray separation pad replacement will require removal of some covers to get to... Any good service center should charge you around $65 for the service and $20 for the parts....and while they have the machine apart they can check the other volatile parts in the machine to let you know where you stand with those.....Hope this helps

No problem.
I added it as a comment to the chat session. You should get an email stating as such, or else, just log into Fixya, go to your chat sessions, and you can open up our session. you will find the list there.

Thanks for the HELPFUL rating, BTW..

Rollers seem to slip when feeding paper so the paper never comes gets printed.

Hello,

The roller kit you need is RK-2100. You can do a Google search for this item. The kit contains the pickup rollers and the separation pads for both trays and also comes with the transfer roller. You can install them yourself in about 10 minutes. The roller kit is also available here. http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=147

HP LaserJet 2100 will not stop printing nonsense when I have cancelled and cleared the print memory. It's going through tons of paper and turning it off, along w/the computer, for several minutes does not...

The "nonsense" is your printer trying to interpret the information. Go to HP.com and download the correct drivers. Delete all other drivers from the Printers and Faxes/File/Server Properties. Then install your correct print driver

Hi, try this.
Feed paper in tray 1.
If this works fine you better replace the roller and separation pad in tray 2.
To test where the swath of ink is comming from try this:
Feed papaer in tray 1.
Send a printjob. As soon as the paper is in the machine open the topcover.
Remove the cartridge and take out the paper carefully.
Check if the swath of ink is all over the side or only there where the paper was in the fuserunit.
If it is all over the side, the cartridge is defective. If its is only there where the paper was in the fuserunit you will have to replace the fuserunit.
Good luck,
Gerrit Jan

HP PSC 1500

1. check the paper to see that it's dry and clean

2. riffle(spread paper with fingers) and place inside of tray

3. open up the printer, and inspect for any little pieces hanging on rollers.

4. Open a cold one, and ponder the significance of life without printers.

got backup?

Grabs two sheets when sending a fax

Sounds like it just needs to be cleaned. If you can give me the make and model of the fax, I'm sure that I can find the manuals for you.
