Hello,
I am trying to use my Timeport 8167 w/ my Pocket PC to dial into my office
network and sync. My problems is that I cannot get the Timeport and the
dialup modem to negotiate (USR 56k Winmodem on NT4 Workstation).
It dials, connects, beebs a lot and then drops. Neither side give me any
meaning error messages.
Has anyone had luck doing this?
Thanks,
Gerald Stowers

I've had luck doing similar things -- dialing into a FreeISP using my 8167
connected to my Palm Vx. While I'd like to think it's the Palm that made it
work, I'm sure it's more of an issue of how the answering modem is set up.
1. Have you successfully connected to the Winmodem using another modem?
2. Have you reviewed speed settings etc? Perhaps it's set to not negotiate
low enough to accomodate the 14.4Kbps connection you'll be getting.
It *can* work!
Good luck,

For what it's worth, I'm doing the same thing with a Palm Vx and TimePort
8167 using Sprint's Wireless Web. With only a direct null-modem connection
between the two devices, it works fine. Since Gerald's already getting
negotiation attempts, I wouldn't think more hardware would be required
(though I may be wrong with a PPC). I've got "AT&F4" as my init string.
