Question about Canon PIXMA MX310 All-In-One Printer

Paper Out message

I received the printer as part of an Apple promo for buying a desktop. I plugged in everything, loaded the drivers and the paper in the proper tray. But when I try to print I get a message to load paper and press ok. I've tried to reload, but still get the same message.

You are absolutely right! I did not read the manual and I was using an HP before. There seemed to be so many different paper loading possibilities and I never considered there would be one in the back. Thanks!!!

Make sure that you are loading it in the back and not the front, I didn't figure this out until I looked at the manual. If you're used to HPs then you want to load in the front, but actually if you look behind the scan door, there is a black panel that you can open, and that's where you feed the paper. That thing in the front is actually where the paper comes out of. Go figure.

When attempting to print from the internet, the printer does not print and the message in Status says 'letter not loaded in any tray, however the paper is loaded in the tray. I have lifted it out and...

I would guess you are loading A4 paper in the printer.

It is likely the Page Setup within the web browser you are using is set to "Letter" size paper, hence there is a miss-match between the size of paper in the printer and the size of paper selected in your web browser.

The method of changing the paper size in your web browser will vary from operating system to operating system and web browser to web browser.
Try looking under the "File Menu" look for "Page Setup" ensure this is set to A4.

You may also need to check the default paper size selected within the printer driver, again ensure this is set to A4 (if this is the paper size you are using)

Printer is loaded with paper but get message

Although you really haven't given me enough information, I will posit and response for you.

A "Load Paper Error can be caused by the application telling you to change the "TYPE or SIZE" of paper that is in your paper tray.

For example, The application thinks you want the page printed on "Letterhead" paper, but it know that you have plain bond paper installed.

So you are sent a change paper type message.

The fix is to hit go and skip around that error.

The actual fix is to make sure that your printer driver, application and the printer are all set to the same size paper and type paper.

Paper loading message says load paper even tho there's paper there

It sounds like the loader assembly motor has failed/is failiing in the printer. Considering the printer can be bought for $50 and the motor costs $25 and $45 labor to replace, you're better off just replacing it.

'Load plain paper' message

Make sure that you have set the same paper type on both the printer driver and on the printer itself, using the on-printer menu. When I get this message, I usually had forgotten to change the paper type on the printer.

reset the settings to default and try again. it sounds like it thinks there is an envelope or similar paper of that size loaded.
just rest everything to factory specs. you can download the software which includes the manual and help from hp directly.
go to hp.com,
search for the product,
follow the prompts

Tray 1 - load ltr (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!)

Hi,

Hope this helps. Please check the printer properties before clicking Ok at print menu command. Now check the available paper tray handler. Try bypass, tray1 or MP tray.

Check also the default paper on Printer Menu command by pressing appropriate setup button. You can try also placing the paper on bypass try if available. The load LTR message means the machine waits a short bond paper on MP tray or on bypass tray.

Best regards,
Rosener
