Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Digital Camera

Camera won't turn on

I have a DMC-TZ3 that won't turn on. The camera is 2yrs old, has never been dropped or subjected to moisture or water/rain. I took it to a battery shop and they installed a new, charged battery but the camera still won't turn on. This problem happened without any notice or warnings...just stopped working one day. Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to what it could be or what I can do to repair it? I am very mechanical and with some direction could replace almost any part on any camera. Please help.
My e-mail address is mbyrnes@satx.rr.com. Thanks for taking the time to help me with this. Mike

    I have the same problem

Mine is under a year old, but I suspect it got damp. It is under guarantee and I have been given the contact details of a company to send it to. Trouble is, if they say that it did get damp, it won't be covered, and I dread to think how much they would charge me to mend it - and I would have to pay to have it sent back. In the circumstances I would be prepared to take it apart and have a go myself if someone could tell me what to look for.

Same problem with mine. It has been a great camera but finally died. No signs of life at all. I have tried a couple of batteries. Pretty discouraging that it would cost more to fix it than to buy a new / used replacement.

Oh Yeah!!!! I fixed mine!!! I had the same problem...the camera worked fine one day and the next day (After I let my niece use it! LOL) it wouldn't power on. I was going to trash it anyway so I decided to take it apart and see if I could find what was wrong. The problem was one of the connections (the one from the top panel to the menu panel) had come loose. All I had to do was carefully push it back into it's slot. The wiring is flat and I didn't want to ruin it so I used a small piece of paper folded a few time to wrap around the wire like a taco, yes I said like a taco, and then used a pair of hair tweezers to push the wire back into place and bingo....Power!!!

If that doesn't look like the problem, the menu board (the green board that holds all the menu option buttons) may have popped out from it's connection. On the bottom of the board there is a male connection that plugs into the inner board, if the camera has been bumped a lot it could come loose, it does not have any screws holding it in. So use your thumb, maybe use a piece of clean non static cloth, to push the board back into place and see it this solves the problem. I had my battery in the whole time so I could check to see what worked.

Well...I hope this helps and good luck if you choose to fix it yourself.
Manuel if Texas.

Sounds like you got a good run out of it Mike. It is worth about $40 on Ebay, $80 with original box and accessories.

You can buy a used working TZ3 without accessories for about $60 to $80 on Ebay.

It is either a battery contact problem or it is something more serious with the camera.

I cannot find a download for my Panasonic DMC-TZ3 for Windows 7

You don't need any special software.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.

Bluish colour with Lumix TZ3

I found 2 different Lumix TZ3 cameras.
http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PNAEndecaSearchCmd?N=779832097+250033510&Ne=&Ns=&Nr=12001&No=0&Ntt=tz3&Ntk=SupportSearch&URL=vSupportSearch&cmTag=false&cm_sp=&cn=&catalogId=13401&storeId=15001

In the manual, I couldn't find a reference to a bluish color.

In FAQ's, I found the following:
What is “Intelligent Auto Mode” (or IA Mode)?
“IA mode” automatically activates MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure, and Quick Auto Focus to match your subject and shooting situation. IA Mode is a great mode for beginning photographers

My Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 was soaked in water. It isn't working, will it work when it drys out?

It depends on how wet it was, if the entire thing was submerged, or even a large portion, it probably will not.it may turn on but it is likely that the lens will be damaged permanently. However if it was just wet upon the outside, like it was used out side during a rain fall, and then wiped dry every thing should be fine.It all depends, try drying it out thoroughly, letting it sit out with all lens caps and lens attachments removed, battery doorway open. is the best thing you can do. I hope that everything works out for you. God bless...

How tu use video recording..

Hi,

The picture that I posted shows a TZ3 mode dial. I added a blue arrow to point out an icon on the mode dial.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Turn the mode dial on the camera so this icon is selected.
2. Switch on the camera.
3. Aim the camera at your subject, press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press it fully to begin the video. (Just as you would take a picture.)
4. To stop taking video, press the shutter button fully again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

~When a video starts being taken, its current length will appear on the camera's LCD screen.
~Videos take up more space on the memory card than do pictures.
~If an SD memory card becomes full while recording, then the video will stop automatically.
~Videos can be played back on the camera's "PLAYBACK" mode. They can also be viewed on a TV or downloaded to a computer.
