The sandisk is inserted into the slot. The label is up and the little gold contacts should be on the bottom and that end goes in first.
When you insert the disk it is recognized by windows or other operating system. This will then list it as a removable disk or storage device. If you are using windows you can open my computer and then insert the disk. After it is recognized you will then see the disk appear as a new icon or listed. To remove the disk you just push on the edge of the disk you see. It will go in a bit and then pop out or eject a bit. Just grab it and pull it out.
To actually use the disk you treat it like any other hard drive or like a big floppy disk or even a cd/dvd. You can install or copy things to and from the disk. Some cameras use these and you can insert the disk and look at the pictures as an example. You can then copy and print from the disk then delete or move them off.
They are just a handy sized storage device. So you will probably find yourself having a few of these so you can use each for different things. ie one might be pictures and the next might be documents and so on. They work on a lot of devices so you may copy music files or even videos/movies off or onto them. I copy movies to a 2gb one I use and then I can watch them on my Palm PDA. My Canon camera uses one to store the pictures it takes, and my mp3 player use it to store the mp3 files. The nice thiing is with a good sized one you can have all sorts of files on the disk at the same time. And when its full you an delete the files or move them back off.
Once you use it even a little you will be an expert and you will wonder why you never got one sooner ;-]
