Hi Mark. Still my problem with the Department assigned in place of flat PLU buttons are not resolved (Dept 1 assigned to flat PLU 007 & 014 .......upto Dept 10 assigned to flat PLU 62 & 69) even though I have followed the set of instruction you gave me i.e.
Turn key to program mode 4 SUBTOTAL 48 Now press the PLU button SUBTOTAL. Nothing happened so I try it again but this time instead of PLU button I press flat PLU001. Now flat PLU001 became PLU button as well. But in REG mode, press 1 then the PLU button, it register the product that is also on the first item button. Please help how to retrieve the flat PLU 001 key along with the other flat PLU’s occupied by Departments? Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't know you hadn't worked with departments yet.
Key to program
2 SUBTOTAL
Now type the dept number on the numeric keys (i.e just press 1 for dept 1)
05 SUBTOTAL
Now type the new name for that dept
00 (double zero button)
CASH
SUBTOTAL
In that case, you want to check that you have linked them correctly.
Turn key to program.
6 SUBTOTAL
304 SUBTOTAL
1 CASH
6 CASH CASH
This should print the status details for the first 6 PLUs. Check to see that the department link is the way you programmed it.
48 is the code for the PLU button, not a flat PLU. they are different.
To set a flat PLU,
Turn key to program
4 subtotal
Type the PLU number to be assigned using the numeric keys
Type 063
Press the flat PLU location to save the PLU number there
Press SUBTOTAL
If you get an error when you press the location, then you already have an amount in the totaliser (end of day report) for that location and you will need to do a PLU report and possibly a department report in both Z1 and Z2 modes to clear the totals of that function before you can allocate it. Let me know if you get an error and I'll help you through. Good to see that you have almost removed all of the old programming
You don't need to use the PLU button when operating in REG mode. The PLU button works like a flat PLU button except it allows code entry, so if you press flat PLU button 27, it is the same as typing 27 and pressing PLU. The PLU button is used to access the PLUs that aren't on the keyboard as flat PLUs. Since the machine has a lot more than the approx 70 flat PLUs on the keyboard, you would use codes and the PLU button to look up the others. The reason you needed to put the PLU button back was to allow us to use it in program mode where it is used to call up a PLU for editing (in this case to change dept link). The departments do not need to be on the keyboard. they are really just placeholders in the machine that total up the linked PLUs so you will only see them on your daily report when it has totalled at the end of the day. Try linking a PLU to a department as I showed you before. Then use that PLU in REG mode. Then do a daily report and it should show a sale in the department you linked the PLU to. I know it is confusing, but just link your PLUs at this stage and then you will start to see it happen as you use the machine and take reports.
Ok. it looks like you have a dept or item assigned in place of your PLU button. You just need to replace it with the original and then you can try linking the depts again.
Turn key to program mode
4 SUBTOTAL
48
Now press the PLU button
SUBTOTAL
Now try the programming for department link again and see if it works this time.
It sounds like you don't have the programming manual. you should have two manuals if you are programming the machine yourself. There is no programming in the user manual except for quick setups so it is for operating only.
You should have this manual as well for the programming:
http://the-checkout-tech.com/manuals/cashregisters/Casio_TE-2200_and_TE-2400_dealers_manual.html
If you look at the preview, you will see that this manual has all the system programming in it. I assumed you had it when you were mentioning the VAT breakdown programming. It is pretty much essential for anything you want to program in future so I recommend you grab it and have a look at the table that I mentioned for transaction key programming on the CASH button
Turn key to program mode. 3 SUBTOTAL 1166 SUBTOTAL Now type the PLU number and press the 'PLU' button (eg 1 PLU for the first plu) Now type the dept number to link to. Use two digits eg 01 Now press 00 (double zero) CASH SUBTOTAL
To set a dept name:
Turn key to program. 2 SUBTOTAL Type dept no in 2 digits eg 01 Type 05 SUBTOTAL Type new dept name using character sheet 00 (double zero) CASH SUBTOTAL
That should do it. Let me know if you have problems.
Hi. I'm afraid this is not a 'basic requirement' of a cash register. You are working with a very complicated area of cash registers that only the medium to high end machines can even do. If you are getting stuck already, then you will not be able to work out the more complex batch processing areas of scanning either. Your dealer should have setup the majority of this for you before you left their store (especially the keyboard layout issue and keysheet for the keyboard), then you would normally receive extensive training if you are going to be making program changes yourself in future. You will need to learn about the difference between flat PLUs and scanning PLUs, 'Not found PLUs' like you have run into so far, then deletion techniques, PLU status programming, manual entry using OBR method etc. The book is only a guide to what you should have learnt during training. You really need to go back to the dealer and get a training session. They should be able to sort out all of these problems for you. It will take a one on one demo to fully train the ins and outs of full scanning systems.
Turn key to program mode. 3 SUBTOTAL 1166 SUBTOTAL. Now type the department number to link to (two digits). E.g 01 for dept 1 Now press the double zero (00) button. Now press the PLU that you want to link to that department. Now Press SUBTOTAL
That should do it. You must have departments printing in your end of day report, or you won't see the linking.
