First thing is to not try powering the laptop on after the water fell on it. Next, you should remove the battery off the laptop immediately. When this is done, you should fully disassemble the laptop & thoroughly inspect its inside. Look for any traces of water on the circuit boards & on other components. On circuit boards, water damage appears in the form of whitish traces. These needs to be wiped off. This can be done using a tooth brush moistened with few drops of hand sanitizer liquid.
Check all internal connectors & make sure that no water seeped into them. Dry them if needed.
When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.
If the water fell on the keyboard & you found out that the keyboard is no longer working, then you will have to replace the keyboard.

Instead of hands sanitizer liquid, I recommend rubbing alcohol. Hand sanitizers tends to have other ingredients that might cause corrosion.

Was it just water or was there any salt or sugar in the liquid water? Did you set the Macbook vertical ( so the water would not sit on the motherboard?

Jay, Try placing your MacBook on a bed of un-cooked rice for several days that should pull any moisture out of your lap-top. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN IT ON. If you already have it may too late.

gone with the wind....or shall i say....water....
dump it in the trash bin....
all liquids are enemy of any IC equipments.....
(many have this dirty habbit of drinking Tea/Coffee/Beer etc while working with their notebooks/laptops.....)
on PC..... the liquids normaly spill on to the keyboard/mouse which is seperate from the CPU...
can replace the keyboard of a PC with just few $$$
but with notebooks the main circuit/motherboard is just below the keyboard.....
once a liquid falls...it just goes thru the holes on the keyboard....and short circuits the ICs...chips...etc

Coffee spilled on my Macbook

Hi. Was your macbook open at the time? If os, then the beverage may have gone deeply into the machine. There is some protection from a bit of the elements under the keyboard, but not waterproof protection. also speaker areas and between where the monitor meets the frame. Also the battery compartment and memory compartment are breachable as well. The service center will probably know moisture to a large degree has entered the chassis of your computer. I said probably because it obviously damaged the computer, hence the need for a service center. Coffee gets in there and really can create a problem. Especially if there was mild and sugar in it. Good luck to you. It may be OK. Pretty sure your hard drive is at least.

Water fell on my mac

By all means do not turn it on.....u might fry something. Leave it in a dry hot area for like 2 says. Then you might have to take it to Apple because Mac's are very very picky about water, i spilled coke and it fried it!

Water on MacBook Pro!

Well, Spilling water on your computer sure isn't the smartest thing to do, but it's not sure the damage is too big. Let it dry for a few days: take the battery apart and leave it in a well-ventilated room for a couple of days. When it's nice and dry, try turning it on. If it works - great! If it doesn't, you might want to get it repaired at a professional soon. Actually, taking it to a pro might be a good idea anyway. Good luck!
