You need the original operation disk that has the operating software and drivers to do that, if you format you will completely erase the whole hdd, ie the operating system and drivers, so your gonna have to replace it with something

Why is my laptop is stuck in start up mode

Hi bungee221,

You can try to boot the system using Safe Mode and try to see it it will be able to boot so that you will be able to backup your file. In addition to that you disable other programs that might be causing the system not to boot up. Go to Safe Mode by reseting the computer then tapping F8. If your able to acces safe mode follow these instructions:
1. Go to Start then click on RUN.
2. Type MSCONFIG.
3. Go to Services Tab, click Hide Microsoft Services then click Disable All.
4. Reboot the computer and see it it will go to normal mode. It you will be able to boot to normal mode it only means that one of the installed software is preventing windows to load.
5. if still cant boot you neet to reformat the system. Take note that if you reformat the system all the files will be deleted so its better to back up the files first. You can use a Recovery Disk that came with the system or you do a Acer Disk Recovery.

Acer Dsik Recovery Steps:

1. Power on the Machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the Alt key and press the F10 key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings
4. Click OK to continue
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6. Once eRecovery has run, press OK to reboot unit.

I have a Acer Aspire 5745 (CPU: Intel i5 processor 2.5GHz RAM: 2GB OS: Win 7 Home Basic) which is only 2 months old. Yesterday I started a installation setup of a game, when suddenly the system restarted....

Hi, I do apologize for the inconvenience you have been facing. The reason why the laptop does not reboot to Windows even after reinstalling Windows is because the issue is with the hard drive not being recognized the reason for which you get a blinking line on the screen after the Acer logo .In this case I would suggest that if the laptop is under warranty please contact the Acer Technical support and have an order placed for repair.
Thank you for your time and best wishes for your effort.

Did you tried to change the boot sequence first? seems to me a driver and hardware communication problem. Check your cd drive if some disc was been left.
