Try opening "network connections" in the Control panel, and right-click the wireless adapter and select "repair". Another thing you can try is turning off both computers, turning off the router, then the modem. Wait one minute, turn the modem back on, wait about 15-20 seconds, then turn the router back on. Then turn your computer back on.

Their are many things this could be but this will fix the most common things. If you have recently installed any new software try restoring your computer to an earlier time:
start>all programs>accessories>system tools> "System Restore"
Restore your computer to the most recent date when the wireless worked.

If none of these things work, let us know and we'll go from there.

Good Luck
Simon.

First of all you may try to check the adapter settings on your computer.

Start>control panel>network and sharing center>adapter settings>check status of broadband(should be connected)

If not right click on broadband connetio and click on connect if still showing as disconnected

You may also check internet option settings.
open IE>tools]nternet options?>connection tab>tick on never dial a connection.
Click on LAN settings tick on automatically detect settings>ok

You may also check for the if the driver for your wireless broadand is working by checking it on device manager.

Try to check if broadband is working on the other computer.

My netbook could not connected to internet. Message display "Windows Could not automatically detect this network's proxy setting". For your info I am using HP netbook 100

To make sure your computer is trying to use the proper connection you need to go into Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections Tab > and select never dial a connection. That way windows will only try to access the internet via your wireless or cable LAN connection. Also you need to make sure that you are not set up to use a proxy. Go into LAN Settings on the Connections Tab and make sure its set up to automatically detect proxy settings. More than likely you are not on a proxy server. I hope this assist you. John

Connect using an Ethernet cable first of all. Once all set up, THEN go wireless using security code password for wireless.

Do the same for each new computer. Ethernet direct connection first, then wireless once you KNOW it's working.

In control panel, is wirelesss network adaptor turned on?
If NO wireless networks are detected and you know you should see some. Remove the wireless device from the system (in device manager) and restart the computer

Wireless network access: 1 laptop fine, other not so much

Check the wireless card on the PC first. Go to "My Computer" then "Device Manager" and check to se if all the hardware is ok.

Use Control panel/netconnections to check to see if you still have a wireless connection and if it works. Also check "My Network Places." Try re-installing the drivers.

As a last resort....try System Restore if it's an XP or Vista system. Remember - using system restore will return the PC to an earlier time but you could lose some stuff so decide first.

Network problems connecting to internet

Hi. If Dell is correct, then yes, it would be expensive. Your other alternative is to buy a PCMCIA Ethernet Card. They range from about $20 to $40. Or, you could go with what you suggested and do wireless via a wireless router.
