With verizon, you need to set the modem to full bridged mode so that the connection from your modem will be opened. This certain firewall is called NAT. Your modem and your router has this feature. To disable NAT on your modem, you need to set it to full bridged mode. To disable the NAT on your router, you need to open ports on your router.

You need to open this port on the router for Xbox live to work
TCP: 80, 3074, 53

UDP: 88, 3074

forward it to the ip of your Xbox.

this should set the NAT on your xbox to open, not moderate.

I cant set up xbox live

Connect to the Internet The first step is to connect your Xbox 360 console to your Internet connection. Here's how:

etherintorouter_300px.jpg
  1. Plug one end of a network cable into a port on your router or gateway. You might need a long network cable, depending upon on the location of your router or modem.

Note If you do not have a router, you can plug the network cable directly into your modem.
  2. Plug the other end of the network cable into the back of your console.
Verify your setup Your setup should look similar to one of the following:

Router connection
connect_router_300px.gif Your Xbox 360 console and computer are both connected to a router. The router is connected to a modem, which is connected to a cable wall jack.

Have one ethernet for computer want to use xbox live so i take out the ethernet from computer and put it in xbox unplug wait plug back in turn still will not connect red x for modem

You should get a cable/dsl router/switch or wireless cable/dsl router/switch and put it between your Modem and network nodes (IE your computer and xbox 360)

So it is modem to router wan port

Xbox 360 to router lan port
Computer to router lan port

You can purchase one cheaply at best buy

I have a cable modem with mediacom and a netgear g5608 router. i tried to hook up my computer, ps3, and xbox 360 but cannot get connected . whats the problem?

hi there! if your trying to hook up your cable modem to your netgear g5608 wireless router, First you need to clone the mac address of your network interface card to your wireless router in order the cable modem will communicate with the router. most cable modem reg the mac address of the nic of your computer.. Once your done of cloning the mac address to your router save the settings and turn off the computer, router and the cable modem.. turn on the cable modem first after 15secs then wait all the lights lit and turn on the router wait all the lights lit and the computer. your will notice that all your light is lit on the router and try to pull up the browser.. Now if you want to connect your ps3 and your xbox 360.. once your wired computer can access the internet, you will not have a problem connecting your wireless devices, you just need to setup your ps3 and xbox360 to connect and use the automatic ip address detect from your wireless devices.. you could either use static ip address and auto detect that your router will assign to your wireless devices.. if you still have any problem connecting your devices.. please feel free to call email me at [email protected] or you can reach me at +09157222160.. good lick!!

Xbox 360

  1. First, turn your Router off and wait for a couple of minutes (unplug power from the wall)
  2. Turn off your modem (unplug power from the wall)
Reboot both the devices and they will obtain a new IP address.

Let me know.

Do you have a router? Most cable/DSL modems have built in routers (more than one ethernet port). The ethernet cable looks like a large phone cable (it's called RJ-45). If so, you will need to powercycle your modem.

You can powercycle your cable modem by:

Unplug the power from your modem for 1 minute (no lights on the device). Plug it back in, and reboot both devices and they will both have IP address to get out to the internet.

Let me know how it goes or if you have anymore questions.

Connecting windstream dsl modem to xbox

Did you get a router, the dsl modem it self wont do much good, you need a router so it can assign your xbox an IP address. You need to have a router hooked up to the DSL modem, and the xbox hooked up to the router.
