Our Amana refrigerator has the freezer on the bottom & it suddenly freezing. We can hear the fan running & there aren't any leaks or odors. I took out the 2 switches & had them tested & they are fine. I think 1 was the starter switch for the compressor, but I can't find the thermostat to have it tested.

If the freezer is not freezing. I am guessing that the refrigerator is not cold also. Here is link to an Amana Refrigerator Not Freezing. You will need to narrow down parts that are working and are not working. I would first pull the refrigerator out to make sure that the compressor and the condenser fan are running(the condencer fan motor runs to cool the compressor down). This is a link to a GE refrigerator condenser fan motor problem. The compressor and condenser fan motor are in the same place. This can give an idea at least where it is at. Make sure that the evaporator fan motor in the freezer is running also. Make sure that the rear freezer wall is not iced over. This can be a defrost problem. See what a defrost problem is HERE. If your unit is sitting there with the lights on but you hear no noise from any fan motor or your compressor. Your unit may be in a defrost mode. Locate your defrost timer. It looks as tho it is either located in the front behind the kick plate or in the back by the compressor. Can you hear a fan running in the freezer? If not, fan needs to be replaced.. Amana evap fans are hard to replace so I suggest hiring a professional.. Is there snowy frosty ice on back wall in freezer? Once again, I suggest hiring a pro if there is ice on the back wall because of the complexity of solving a defrost problem.

Is the refrigerator still working? Is there any cold air in the freezer? If your compressor stopped working it would cause the refrigerator to be warm also. I had a problem with my amana refrigerator where the freezer wasn't getting cold enough and it was due to a condenser fan running intermittently. i replaced the fan and was back in business. i would check to make sure both your fan and your compressor are operating...

Firstly put off the refrigerator before the compressor burns off.
The problem is simple... the coling gas has leaked out.... put new coolong gas...BUT only after finding the place of leak... this will be needed to be fixed first.

Is fan in freezer running? If not it is bad and needs replacing. Please leave feedback.

One of two things. When you open the freezer drawer, do you hear a fan running? If not, that's the problem. The Evaporator fan. Its' job is to circulate cold air throughout the entire cabinet. Without it, things get toasty. If not the Evap Fan, it'll be the sealed system... meaning that it's developed a leak and freon is escaping (not harmful for you or your Family). If it's just under 5 years old, this will be a warranty repair. Over 5? Bad news... it'll cost ALOT to have it repaired.
