Panasonic KX-TG8231B - "No link to base" error. Any fix available or do I send it back for repair/replace?

  • dpress7413 Aug 08, 2008

    need to re-register the handset

  • spark146 Oct 14, 2008

Exactly the same problem. Moving closer to the base does not solve the problem. The only workaround that I've found is to unplug the base, then replug; it then re-establishes connection with the handsets.

I have the same problem. The head set do not link with the base. I tried to unplug the power, but no luck. If you have another solution, please advice.

The manual, on page 40, says that it has to be re-register. I did it as described, but once it got registered, looses the link again. I try this many times but does the same thing. loose connection.

    Any diferent help?

I have same problem and it is not the battery.  The battery is fully charged and stays that way for a long time.

If the re-registration doesn't work, your handset is probably shot. you can buy a reconditioned one on ebay for under $30. take the battery out to find the model #.

I have the below-mentioned problem with my Panasonic Cordless model KX-TG3531BX No link to base. Move closer to base, try again. Please contact me on 9879590311 or email me at ritu_vpatel@yahoo.com

place all handsets in the base unit for about 1 minute each. This links the handsets to the base. Sometimes the handsets lose their link to the base unit. If this doesn't work try to call Panasonic tech support for further information, the phones could be defective as well.

TOO FAR FROM BASE

Hi! This may cure your problem!
Re-registering the handset
If “No link to base. Move closer
to base, try again.
” is displayed
even when the handset is near the base
unit, you may need to re-register the
handset to the base unit.
Important:
LMake sure the base unit is not being
used.
LHave the handset and base unit near
each other when re-registering the
handset.
LKX-TG5422 and KX-TG5423 only:
Confirm the extension number of the
handset which has lost its link to the
base by placing the handset on the base
unit or charger.
If you accidentally assign another
handset’s extension number to it, the
other extension will stop functioning.
1 Handset:
Press {MENU}.
2 Scroll to “Initial setting” by
pressing {V} or {^}, then press {>}.
3 Scroll to “Registration” by pressing
{V} or {^}, then press {>}.
4 KX-TG5421 base unit:
Press and hold {HANDSET
LOCATOR
} until the CHARGE
indicator flashes.
KX-TG5422 base unit:
Press and hold the handset locator
button that corresponds to the handset
you want to re-register ({HANDSET
LOCATOR
1} or {HANDSET
LOCATOR
2}) until the CHARGE
indicator flashes.

Below is a link that will take you to the instruction manual for your phone.

Panasonic KX-TG2367 says "No link to base".

This worked for my mother's KX-TG2357:

We tried doing what it said in the manual on page 54. That didn't work! She then decided to just unplug everything. About 3-5 minutes later, plugged everything back in, and lo and behold, everything was working fine!!

Phone won't work

Hi - I stumbled upon this fix after my KX-TGA8231B DECT6.0 phones lost dial tone: I simply removed the rechargeable AAA batteries from the backs of each handset and put them back in after a few moments. This restored dial tone and the ability to hear a call when the phone is answered. Good luck. ---Gerry

Model#kx-tg6071b when talk button is pushed, screen shows" no link to base move closer, try again". That is what appears on both handsets.

Press MENU, scroll down to INITIAL SETTINGS (press select), scroll down to REGISTRATION (press select), then select HS REGISTRATION, and follow the instructions on the handset screen. This is for the KX-TG6071B, but is similar for most Panasonic Cordless phones. That will link the handset to the base, and YOU MUST DO IT WITH EACH HANDSET.

Make sure the phone is pluggd into the wall properly. If so and no dial tone is detectable make sure you installed the batterys on the handsets correctly and that they are fully charged. If you have a friendly neighbor with a working phone line plug youre phone into their line and if it does not work and you followed my previous instructions seek a repair center in youre area that honors panasonic warranties. If the phone is pluggd in at the neighbors house and it works use it to call the phone company.
