It has the size pipe the service manual says it has, or whatever the mechanic replaced it with. Get a calipers and measure it; look at the ends and see if it was the wrong size in the first place.
You'll be pleased to know that there is no single size of course, because flex pipe comes super fat and has to be conditioned to the right size carefully. Additionally, the other pipes merely have minimum sizes in the spec. repair manual, not given sizes.
See why muffler people don't seem all that fenced in?

Let us know how your Compag Presario/Mitsubishi Accent thing goes, eh?

Convert dual exhaust on 99 sunfire gt to single?

You can cut out the Y pipe and replace it with a flex pipe from parts store, then clamp each end of the flex pipe, the pipe diameter will be 1-7/8 or 2 inch, also for the pipe replacement piece would work from a sunfire or cavalier from 1995 and up, might need to replace the muffler strap too. as it can break from rusting, if not already rusted and broken.

2000 passat wagon flex pipe needs replacement. I bought a new pipe. Do I need to replace muffler too?

I just had both flex pipes changed at a Midas shop. Five hours labor and $115 for the parts. My muffler was fine.

I have a 2000 4 cylinder Toyota Camry. The VIN starts with 'J'. Having trouble with a droning noise coming from the exhaust, I have used 100% dealer parts. In August 2010 I changed the flex pipe,...

Sounds like (no pun) your muffler and/or resonator are wearing out internally. After internal parts wear, they can make strange harmonic sounds. Sounds change with fuel, air filter and general tuning of car. Have a good muffler shop listen to it and take them in test drive to witness what you're hearing.

Broken flex joint on exhaust

it would be the front pipe you can buy new at about 200-300 hundred or go to auto parts and ask for a flex tube they have 3 or 4 different sizes from 1 and a half inch to 2 and three quarters of inch it should costs 40 to 60 dollars and if you can weld with a mig welder you cut the pipe as close to the flex or weld as possible then install the new part and weld it or if you cant weld and no money is loose buy muffler clamps and tighten them on the pipe new part or find one in scrap yard that is better if theres a problem ask me i have done many

2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder Pipe (from muffler) connected to 2 flex pipes is sheared off at connection to flex pipe. need schematic and how can this be repaired

Replace the entire section before and after the flex. Be sure to look into excessive engine movement, that may have caused this failure. Welds will fail again, quickly.

How do you remove baffles out of the bike

On my 1998 I cut old muffler off. Inside I found smaller pipes. I could remove the baffles. So I order the same size pipe as the out side pipe from JEGS. Welded it over the smaller pipe. Has a nice tone and now getting better MPG. Hope this helps. My HD friends will not ride on my right. They say it's to loud.

How do I repair a broken tailpipe on my 2002 Sportage

Hi:
Depending on which section of exhaust pipe is broken, usually it is easiest to purchase a new pipe and new clamps , and install instead of repairing the old pipe. Chances are that what ever shape the section of pipe was that broke, the rest is soon to follow. You can stop by your local auto parts store, and see what pipes they offer for your car, as well as the muffler and needed clamps.

Exhast pipe where it is braided is loud how do you replace it

I have seen a lot of muffler shops or reg shops just weld that thing together to stop the leak, because it does wear out fast, it is a flex joint, I think to replace it it, you have to get the whole section of pipes, crossovers, etc, whatever you have under there. Hope this helps.

Check Engine Light

This is because there is a leak in the muffler and this light indicates increase in oxygen detected by lambda sensor... so nothing serious but you might be injecting little extra fuel causing little decrease in mileage... to fix this just replace or weld the muffler or most probably the flex pipe
