Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

Display has lines that run through it

My Acer laptop display first had a (horizontal) line going through it and the cursor/mouse would not move. The laptop itself is stationary, with the exception of opening and closing the display screen. It sits on a desk... The screen started to get a thin line through it, but, when the screen was moved either forward or back it would resolve itself. Now the screen has several lines through is (all horizontal) and then the lines begin to increase in width and kind of take over the screen. The mouse/cursor will not work unless the screen is clear and without lines, which now doesn't happen at all. I can't get to anything, unless I hook my laptop up to my desktop screen.

Any help would be appreciated... Thanks

    Thanks!

Yes, the lines are horizontal. Oh! and this morning there was a wide, yellow, vertical line down the middle of the screen. I'm going to send it to Acer. I've got to get it running again...

I appreciate your help with this one...

If you think of anything else, please let me know...

Acer systems seem to have a lot of problems unfortunately. If you are out of warranty, forget it. Use an external monitor or recycle that problem system. Note Acer has several recalls and alerts for various systems; but alas, most of those recalls/class actions have expired. You can find those herehttp://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/aler... Best of luck

If you can get through to support, make sure you ask them HOW MUCH it will cost. You might find it prohibitive and opt to possibly order a video card and consider replacing your self. HOWEVER, if it is out of warranty... check the price to repair FIRST. The other option (if you feel confident) is to check out online for parts and replace it yourself. Here is one on ebay that you might consider (I HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THIS SITE OR PRODUCTS)http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40...

They can be horizontal. I think your graphics card on your motherboard is bad. you should consider sending it to acer so they can replace it with a new one.

Horizontal line across screen, only when dragging over large areas with the cursor

Hello,

Have you tried updating DirectX?

You can also try scanning your computer with RadarSync (for free) to see which drivers are outdated. You can then install the updates by searching for them using Google. But, if you want to let RadarSync update them automatically then you can buy the license.

if your laptop auto connects to the internet you can try installing teamviewer from www.teamviewer.com , to it and then using another pc, connect remotely to it to allow you to control the mouse on another pc. you will then at least be able to complete the installation.

Lines running through some pictures

Sounds like the video inverter is bad or the inverter has a bad connection. You could try unplugging the display and then plugging it back in,maybe it will help.Alot of times this starts happening if a wire gets stretched or in a bind opening and closing the display.Usually its the video inverter though.

You are going to have to replace your LCD screen. If you are technically astute, then there are instructions that I can send you... if not , then taking it to a shop would be your best bet.

Acer Vista Laptop and cursor nightmare!!

Hi -
I've been having the same problem and it is MAJORLY annoying to be typing along, and have the cursor reappear on another line!

I had a heck of a time finding the place to disable the touchpad, since we use a USB mouse with the laptop. Turns out, someone else helped me find a simple way - hold down the Fn key (next to the left side CNTRL key), and hit F7. That toggles the touchpad off/on easily!

Also suggested by someone else, some mice can cause erratice behavior with Acer laptops, so perhaps try another mouse?

So far, I've been typing this response AFTER disabling the touchpad, and the cursor has not jumped around at all.

Good luck! : )

Sceptre X20G Naga III showing horizontal and vertical lines

Hi...there,

Yeah, there it... It's called a AD board. It that piece of component were you plugged your VGA or DVI cables to it. Panel scratchs repair kits, not recommended. Beside your panel could be already damaged by this problems you had. Replacing the AD board gonna cost you though...any where from $70.00 or more... My recommendation, just get a new one...saved you the headached and $$$.
Have a nice day!
