What should I do to clean my oven?

You can use Easy Off 'Fume Free' oven cleaner on a self-cleaning oven, if you want to manually clean it, but do not use it with the self-cleaning cycle.

What type of oven cleaner can be used on the ge profile self cleaning ovens.

No chemical cleaners should be used on self cleaning ovens. Scrape the heavy soil with a plastic spatula and use the self clean feature. Once chemicals are used it will not clean satisfactorily again. Sorry..... Eric

Just use some easy off and do not use the self clean feature. Clean it the old fashioned way. Self clean ruins expensive electronics.

Some aluminum foil melted onto the bottom of my Kenmore Elite oven, which happens to have a hidden bake element. I happened to catch that this was happening to remove most of the piece of foil, however,...

Don't use self clean. Get some easy off oven cleaner. Self clean gets too hot and ruins expensive delicate electronics.

I have never used a self cleaning oven.i have already put oven cleaner on the inside and let it stand for awhile is this right? god I don't want to blow up

You DO NOT use a oven cleaner with a self cleaning cycle. Wipe out the oven cleaner as instructed on the can. Oven cleaner is better than self clean cycles anyway. Most self clean cycles eventually cause oven control problems.

I have baked on aluminun foil on the bottom of my self clean oven did the cycle to self clean and the aluminum foil is still stuck on the bottom what can I do to remove it without ruining the surface

If the bottom of the oven is enamelled or has a pyrolytic self cleaning surface then you can use caustic soda to remove aluminium foil.

Many oven and hob cleaners contain caustic soda and those which do always advise that it's kept away from aluminium parts precisely because of it's effectiveness in turning aluminium into grey foamy goo!

If you're in doubt as to whether your oven floor is caustic soda resistant then try a small test patch first.

Please note that caustic soda is extremely corrosive so you'll need to keep your hands and arms covered and preferably use eye protection as well.

If I DO NOT want to use the self cleaning feature is there any other safe way, including using soap and water, to clean the oven without ruining it? (I don't want to use the self cleaning feature)

Hi,
  1. Oven door : Wash the door and window with soap and water and rinse with clear water. Use glass cleaner only if sprayed on a cloth first. Do not use abrasive pads, powdered cleaners, or steel wool on glass and enamel, or the surfaces will be scratched.
  2. surface burner : To absorb a spill when it is hot, pour salt on it and wipe it up when the oven has cooled. A mildly abrasive baking soda and water paste can be used in the oven, too.
  3. Racks:Remove oven racks and clean them in warm, soapy water. Stubborn messes can be cleaned by using mild abrasive cleansers or a soap filled scouring pad. Rinse and dry the racks before returning them to the oven.
  4. Metal trim:Metal trim can be cleaned with glass cleaners or mild cleansers, soap and water. Abrasives or cleaners made for oven interiors should not be used.
Thanks
Smith.

Self cleaning

Never use spray cleaners in a self clean oven it will void your warranty and possibly ruin the oven. it sounds like what may have happened is the fumes from the spray ignited inside the oven and may have blown out the pilot light if your using gas.
or maybe replace the thermocouple. sorry, hope that helps.
