No signal and then turns dormant

My system worked fine with a different brand LCD monitor, but when switching to this one I only get "no signal." I am on an EVGA nVidia 8600GTS gfx card. When attached to a laptop, however, the monitor appears to function fine.

When you get no signal problem, then check the video cable, and test computer on a different monitor.

If that does not help, then there is a fault on monitor input connector.

Does ScanGuard really work? "This revolutionary new system from ScanGuard will detect and eliminate any Viruses, Adware and Malware which may be silently dormant on your computer "

if other security systems like norton , kaspershy, mcfee will not find dormant problems then nothing else will as all virus adware malware all use register points that can be detected by security systems
if a full scan is used with a quality security system , the any dormant problems will be detected
basically what you have is just good advertising to make you think that your security system is not good enough

When I am downloading a film...I leave my PC on but when I go back to it after about half an hour it has switched itself off stoopping my download can you help please ty mike

There is little info on your problem but I think you mean the screen went black while downloading a film. Normally computer monitors turn themselves off (dormant) to save energy and the life of the monitor's screen if not used for 10 or 30 minutes, depending on the settings, but the download just keeps going. Mine is set to 10 minutes. All you have to do is disturb the Mouse and see if the monitor screen switches itself on. There is another power saving option, and that is the Computer itself. If the computer is not used for one hour, it too goes dormant, but can also be set to switch itself completely off after the download is completed. However, if a computer is left on for over an hour, it can switch itself off to save energy and the computer's own wear and tear. It all depends on the computer hardware and the settings. If it is hardware controlled, then it may or may not switch itself off but it still goes dormant. Or it can be set to whatever you wish it to do, stay on all the time, go dormant after a set time or switch off if there is no prolonged activity.

How can I delete my profile?

According to boardreader:

You can contact the helpdesk but you may as well just edit your info out of your profile, log out and let it sit dormant. Closing or deleting an account does not remove your posts, so there's really no advantage to closing it versus just letting it sit dormant and you may one day need to log back in if some new questions come up.

If you are satisfied, please rate or/and leave a testimonial. Thank you!

Computer won't come back on after going to sleep mode.

If you computer is going into hibernation, the best thing to do is disable it. These days it is better for the pc to stay on for updates and scans. Right click on an empty area on the desktop, click properties, click screensaver, click power set turn off hard discs, standby and hibernate to never, I usualy turn monitors off after 30 min

Your switch may be bad, not turning off completely. Just unplug it when not in use.
