Have you solved this yet? I have a reset process that sets the starting position back to 12 o'clock. Pull the crown to the second (outmost) position and then start pressing the start-stop button repeatedly. Each push will set the starting position by 1 second, until you get to 12 o'clock, then push the crown back to its normal position. Let me know if that works.
Typically there is a way to initialize the hands, for example on Casio Edifice EQS500C-1A1 by pressing and holding down the right bottom button for few seconds allows the hands to be zero'd out, next press the bottom left bottom to toggle between various set of hands to zero them out as well, and when all is done,press the top left one to exit this routine, HTH
