Question about Toshiba Satellite A205-S4777 Notebook

1 Answer

My laptop won't start up and i can't use the recovery media to sort it out.

When I switch on my laptop it prompts me for my BIOS password as usual. However, after I swipe my finger, the laptop shows the windows bar at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds and then goes to a black screen where it just stays. I've tried using the recovery media but my laptop just says "windows is loading files" and then repeats the same start up process as before (without prompting for the Bios password this time).

Please help!!

i've tried starting in safe mode and the system hangs at the crcdisk.sys file. does this mean my hard drive is dead or can i do anything about it without having to change my hdd and lose all my information?

I am also having exactly the same problem as Jules77's on my Toshiba A205 model and was wondering if Jules77's or any one else got a solution before I start replacing hardware. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Its sounds either your windows has been currepted or you have some missing driver/software wich cause re-start.

  • Try to boot in safe mode.
  • Start pressing F8 after making on your lap til the boot option menu appears.
  • Select Safe Mode and press enter.
  • If your lap boots well then, goto Start -> Run and type msconfig in the commad box and press enter key.
  • In System Configuration Utility click on Services tab and click Hide All Microsoft Services after that click on disable all. Then press Ok and reboot your lap normally. After do same as above and enable one by one service to get which cause problem.

If it even does not boot in safe mode, then i think you should re-install windows.

Thanks & good luck

Hello, i am selling my acer extensa 5620z, i want to put the laptop back to factory settings, i have no password or recovery disk which the new owner will need, could you please help, Many Thanks, Mary.

-If you want back to factory setting, try in BIOS system your pc laptops
-if you want back to factory setting windows, go to "system restored"

another trik :
  • Go to "Start," then perform a search for "Command Prompt." The Windows Start button is located in the lower-left corner of your computer screen.
  • Double-click on "Command Prompt" to open the application. You will need to use MS-DOS commands to reset the BIOS password.
  • Type the following commands one by one in the order shown:
    debug
    o 70 2E
    o 71 FF
    quit
Make sure that you are typing the letter "o" and not a zero at the beginning of the second and third commands.
  • Reboot your computer by clicking "Start," "Shutdown," and then "Restart." The BIOS password will now be reset to default.
Thx

Had a problem with Toshiba Satellite A205-S5800. Could not remember password, or the laptop created a new password after 3 tries at trying to remember. Ran recovery disc, and now the HDD password box...

Power the laptop off. Unplug it. Remove the battery. Turn it over. Open the bottom panels. Look for a small battery. Unplug this battery. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. RE-Assemble everything. Turn it back on - hopefully it has cleared the settings and you will be prompted to enter the BIOS.

D2d recovery miss, in my hd, what I do?

If the computer you are recoverying the Operasting System on does not have an internal optical drive an external USB optical drive will be required to use the Recovery Media.
  1. If applicable, ensure the external USB optical drive is properly connected to the computer and powered on.
  2. Power on the computer.
  3. Press the F2 key to enter BIOS Setup during Power-On Self-Test (POST while the Acer logo is being displayed).
  4. Using the keyboard arrow keys, arrow over to Boot.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to set the first device to CDROM or USB CDROM.
  6. Press the optical drive drive eject button and insert the System CD.
  7. Close the optical drive tray.
  8. Press the F10 key, and then the Enter key to save the changes and restart the computer.
  9. The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media they may be purchased at our Acer Recovery Media Order Form.

Drivers for Acer products may be found on the Acer Product Support. Search for the product and download the drivers.
Alternatively, the factory installed drivers and applications can be re-installed by using Acer eRecovery by following these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then All Programs
  2. Click Acer, and then Acer eRecovery Management
  3. You may be prompted to enter or create a password. This password will be required to use eRecovery in the future.
  4. In the next window on the left toolbar, select Restore.
  5. Choose Reinstall Drivers or Applications
  6. Choose Contents
  7. Choose the driver or application you wish to install
  8. On the right, click the Install link and follow the prompts.
  9. The computer may restart when installation is complete. If it does not restart, manually shutdown and restart the computer.
Note: For older Acer products, the Acer eRecovery Management program may not be available.

Bios password

Hi there, sometimes there is a backdoor password, depending on what type of BIOS you have try the following:

VOBIS & IBM merlin Dell Dell Biostar Biostar Compaq Compaq Enox xo11nE Epox central Freetech Posterie IWill iwill Jetway spooml Packard Bell bell9 QDI QDI Siemens SKY_FOX SOYO SY_MB TMC BIGO Toshiba Toshiba

The other solution is a hardware reset but it's usually performed by technician to a repair center.
