There is a characteristic problem with these models and others that use that ink, that the part of the carrier that delivers the ink to the printhead cracks. There is no real solution, because there are no parts available for ANY HP ink printer. It's time for a new one. HP's solution is to `upgrade' you.... Wanna buy another HP???
I just got off the phone with HP tech support for this very issue- Oxc19a0022 Ink System Failure for my HP B209a Photosmart Plus inkjet printer. I tried unplugging etc. as suggested on the HP website with no success. I was told that this message indicates that either the printhead itself needs replacing or "some other hardware issue" in the printer is to blame. Either way I was told the fix would cost "more than half that of a new printer" and, exactly as doubee stated, it was suggested I "upgrade" to one of HP's newer printers. I was told the good news is HP has "a number of specials going on right now". Yay! This printer got very very light usage, maybe a few sheets every month or so. Since the tech was quick to tell me the printer is out of warranty, I asked when their records show I purchased it and was told 1 year and 10 months ago. I was also told that had I purchased the extended warrranty the issue would have been covered. At that point I asked the tech to relay to the higher ups that any printer that can't make it past the 2 year mark is "pretty poorly made" and that a customer should not have to purchase an extended warranty to ensure it lasts a few years. I will not be buying another HP printer anytime soon (although I suspect the competition is probably playing the same games).
